CSI - 'Dead Air'

I feel like it doesn't actually rain in Las Vegas as much as it does on CSI... It always rains when someone's about to die!
It's at a news studio in the middle of a storm, and the on-air host is a bitch.. But her assistant is Jacob Zachar!!! He played Rusty on Greek!! And is incredibly adorable!!
I already know he's not the murderer. He's too cute.
So then the lights go out and when they came back on, Teresa (the anchor) is sitting there gasping, then slumps forward, dead. On the air! Can you imagine seeing that on TV at home?? Scary stuff.
Apparently she was knifed in the back of the neck, one stab. The ehtire crew hates her, and OMG Greg's interviewing Rusty/Chad two of the cutest people from TV in one shot!! Yes please!! Apparently the killer snuck over to the desk, stabbed her and then disappeared, all within 20 seconds. I don't think they're looking for a crew member - they're looking for a ninja.
Morgan interviews a creepy techie guy, and Finn is interviewing the weathergirl, whose screen name is Rainy Days (insert eyeroll here).
HOLY CRAP.

It's a freaking Greek cast reunion this week!!!
That's Spencer Grammer playing Ella the field reporter!! She was Casey, Rusty's sister on Greek!!! Man, I miss that show...
Doc Robbins finds green residue in the neck wound, and Russell finds out that someone blew up a transformer a few blocks from the station - the cause of the power outage.
Nick found a coffee cup outside the studio, that had pee in it. Probably Chad the assistant hahaha nice move, buddy! The green stuff in the wound is a putty used to sharpen knives and blades. Makes sense why that would be in a stab wound.
Apparently the report footage of Ella being out in the storm wasn't live, it was pre-recorded (which was apparent to Rainy the weathergirl because you could see the moon behind her, and the clouds should have completely covered the sky at that point). So Morgan goes back and talks to the creepy techie guy and they figure out that the van was not where they said it was at the time.
Finn interviews Ella and apparently she'd been co-anchor a few weeks before, but she got demoted back the the field, probably because of Teresa. And I don't get this - Nick is interviewing the camera guy in the other room, behind the one-way mirror, and they can see Finn and Ella in the other room!! That's not how the interviewing room works!! So weird. Turns out that Ella and cameradude were sleeping together, which is why they 'played hooky' from the weather peice.
Ella has a theory as to why Teresa was killed (aside from her obvious bitchiness) because she thinks she was working on a big important story and wouldn't tell anyone what it was.
So Sara and Russell go look for evidence of this story at Teresa's home (which is HUGE, I might add...). Russell points out that "Apparently it pays more to report crime than it does to solve it" to which Sara replies "Well, you can say that about any job - well, except for crime. I hear it doesn't pay." I know that that line was incredibly cheesy, but Sara rarely gets jokes, so I found it HILARIOUS for her to say that hahahah... Then with a sad smile, she admits that her house often looks like that of a single woman (noooo she and Grissom can't break up!! Not before he makes another cameo, anyway!!) and walks into Teresa's dining room, which is FULL of stacks and boxes and taped-up bits of paper. Police reports, newspaper articles, all about a series of arsons in warehouses 17 years ago. And a notebook with cryptic writing in it.
WHA- Grissom called Sara and she didn't answer!! So Finn asks "Can't talk to him since what happened with the NTSB guy?" Sara says nothing happened with the NTSB guy,
Josh Randall Picture
You mean... This NTSB guy?

and she doesn't want to answer because she'll be sad when she hangs up. AWW!!
I kinda want to learn to decode shorthand like that lol it looks fun! And being the nerd I am, I love puzzles..
Apparently the same person who blew up the transformer, also set the fires. And the person who she interviewed that was an expert in demolotions was the guy who died in the fire Finn was investigating earlier. Coincidence? No! But he was dead before the fire happened - knife wound with green goop and all.
Now Russell is asking Sara if she's 'OK'.. Uh-oh, I sense an upcoming unfortunate plot story. When they're watching the reruns of the news, Rainy has a peice of the weather map showing up on her neck, because there's a green stain on her dress. From the knife-sharpening goop. Apparently it came from the crazy crewman's workroom. His name is Denny and he apparently was in the army with the munitions expert who was killed. Morgan corners him at the station and when he runs from her, he goes outside into a huge throng of reporters. Then he has a knife that he says is his, but he didn't kill Teresa because they loved each other.
Then the reporters are pushing in, and Denny's waving the knife around, and Morgan and Detective Vartann have their guns pointed at him, and Russell's screaming for the cameras and reporters to go the hell away, and it's very very confusing, and then Denny stabs himself.
Henry (who I thought worked in the toxicology lab, but apparently now he's head of DNA?) says that he found evidence that Denny was sleeping with Teresa, and Russel (who apparently uses basketball to help him think) bounces a few times, has an epiphany, and runs off, shoving the ball into Henry's confused hands.
Morgan, Sara, Russell, Greg and Finn go back to the studio to re-enact the murder. Yay! I love when they do this! They don't do it nearly enough (and they used to do it on Bones a lot too).
Poor Zack always had to be the murder victim.
Vartann turns off the lights and they all try to run and get the 'flag' in the back of the chair that represents her 'life'. (I totally don't get why they didn't just try this in the first place.) Neither Finn nor Greg nor Morgan could get to her fast enough - then they turn around and Russell's got it.
It was the station manager!! Which is weird, considering I thought he was saying stuff, in the little booth, when the power was out.
Turns out Teresa figured out that he had set the fires, and she was blackmailing him (which is why Ella got demoted).
Then when Russell and Sara are watching the news at the end, her phone rings and he gives her a knowing look and leaves the room. Then she answers and OMG IT'S GRISSOM MAKING A CAMEO VIA VOICE RECORDING!!! That's his second of those (plus one 'in person') since he left the show!!! So happy!! But then she sounds all sad, and when he asks if it's a good time to talk, she doesn't answer and it goes to the end credits!! NOOOO!!!!

Bones - 'A Shot in the Dark'

Open on the team gathering around a body of a guy who either fell or was dumped off an enormous bridge, because his bones are extremely fragmented. Cam needs time to clean the bones, so she sends Brennan home to rest, but then Bones and Booth have an argument because he says she's 'not spontaneous' enough, which she takes to mean that she's a bad mother, and then she storms out and goes back to work.
One of the security guards (who is kinda creepy) talks to her for a bit, then she goes back to the bones, and then there's a noise and she turns but can't see because she's wearing those magnification goggles, and gets shot. In the stomach. Which I knew was coming, but it still makes me sad.. I think she's the only one (with the exception of Angela and Cam) who hasn't been shot before. But she's certainly been kidnapped.
Booth comes to the lab to apologise and finds her. Thank god that he was there!!! He rushes her to the hospital and she 'wakes up' in her childhood home with a woman - her mother! They're chatting and Bones is so pissed because she can't leave (the door won't open, when it does she gets sucked out and plopped back into the living room, and now the door has no handle - this is some Bruce Almighty stuff going on here!
What's next - 7 fingers on one hand??

Cam and the doctor lady from last week were in the operating room, but they can't find a bullet in her, there's no exit wound either. And her heart stops and they have to use the paddles on her. And I'm thinking 'oh shit.' Because that reminds me of the crazy weird improvised dart-gun that Pelant used. Uh-oh... Turns out the poor security guard is  dead too, with no trace of a bullet in him either.
And the pretty FBI agent lady who has chemistry with Sweets is back!!
More of her, pleeeease!!!!!
But no time to be happy over that, because Bones is still in the hospital. Also Clark is back, we find out his middle name is Thomas. Hahahaha his last name is Edison, that's why it's funny.
Sweets is nerdier than we thought, he's a fan of clocks.
He and Agent Sparling are going to the victim's house, and they find confetti that links to a taser belonging to Hal the security guard, and that is what killed the guy Bones was examining.
Then Angela goes to tell her the good news in the hospital, and suddenly she passes out again. She and her mom have a talk about how she was arguing with her mother right before she disappeared, about a boy, and her mother told her never to change herself for another person. And she hasn't! Then Bones goes to hug her mother, and there's a white *pouf* and she vanishes. She wakes up to Booth and her father standing over her, apparently she had a bad reaction to the antigens in the blood they gave her after her surgery, but they have no clue how that happened.
Bones tells Booth that she felt like he was the one pulling her back to Earth, from 'wherever' she was. And then they both start crying.
Hodgins figures out that Bones and Hal were shot with ice bullets - but not just any kind of ice - frozen blood. And a makeshift gun.
PELAAAAAAANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clark and Cam find a wound on Hal's head, sustained around the same time he had a struggle with the first dead guy. The trace came from a 12th-century Greek artifact from the storage at the Jeffersonian, and the last call Hal made before he died was to a burner cell phone. So Hal, the shooter, and the dead guy were all working together to steal artifacts from the museum, and when they realised that Brennan would be able to work out the whole thing, they shot her, and then the co-conspirator turned on Hal.
Turns out it was a British guy, doctor Batuhan, working in the restorations department (they found a forgery in its place in storage) who used an airbrush as his makeshift gun.
This British guy. He was on Friends. Chandler called him 'tomAHtoes'

And made this hilarious face when he said it.
Ok Pelant, you're off the hook this time. But only this time. YOU'RE GOING DOWN, YOU SONOFABEETCH!!!!
Booth and Sparling are interrogating the British bastard and his lawyer's being an ass, but they're shooting him down pretty snappily. Booth's parting words: "I can hold your client for 24 hours, by my watch I have 15 more. And your lawyer sucks."
Sparling has binders full of questions, and Brennan's going into surgery again to do a biopsy on the antigens used in the blood bullet, because there should be a trace of it left in her body - DNA which can be linked to Batuhan. I think she really did it so she could go see her mother again. So they have a long hug and say goodbye, and then the mother says "Tell your father that I always knew the first gift he ever gave me was stolen." Then she leaves, Bones wakes up, and tells Max the message, and he's stunned. So it was true. Creepy. I love how this show skirts the line between the ghost and the real world. Very rarely, but they still do it. And then there was that episode of The Finder with Hodgins and the aliens. So cool. Too bad it was cancelled.

Bones - 'The Doll in the Derby'

How many shows have done an episode around this?! Psych, CSIs New York AND Miami - in fact, I was pretty sure Bones had done one already, but I guess not.
Remember this, anyone? Of course not. I don't know anyone who watches Psych. Jules is such a badass.
Oh yea, and then there was that movie Whip It a few years back. For such a 'fringe' sport, it sure is getting a lot of attention from Hollywood. Weird.
Some rookie cops are in an abandoned slaughterhouse that apparently someone broke into, and they're messing around with dispatch, because they think it's a bogus call, and then one of them trips over a tub containing a body!! And the one guy runs out, but the flashlight beam remains on the other one's face!! Continuity!!
The body was doused with acid, so the tissue is dissolving, and they decide to use a pressure hose to stop the acid - an idea Bones is not happy about.
Booth has an appointment at the hospital that he won't specify, but Bones wants to help him with it and he won't let her.
Also, they kind of changed the title music again. Or was this them changing it almost-back to the way it was before? I'm confused. I was watching Season 1 the other day.
Yay Wendell!!! Apparently it's his birthday 'tomorrow' and he's turning 29 and Hodgins is making him feel like he hasn't accomplished much with his life. Poor Wendell. The female victim was missing her front teeth, like a hockey player. And Sweets says the killing is not 'weird enough' to be a serial killer, causing Booth to use his 'are you serious?' face haha
That one. That one there.
Then he tells Sweets he has to go, because he has a 'thing' and takes off without telling Sweets what it is.
The victim's false teeth give her name - Melinda.
Angela did some fancy stuff with the victim's fancy watch, and due to the heart-rate moniter on it, they can tell that apparently she was either scared or running right before her death. Then Bones' phone rings and it's Booth, and she won't even tell Angela what it was about. Which makes me think he might be dying O.o Or someone he knows is dying.
AHA! I knew this would happen eventually on this show after it being on for so long, it always happens on the various CSIs - they're recycled an actor to play completely different roles in different episodes.
This guy!!!
The actor's name is Larry Poindexter, he was actually on the pilot episode of Bones, played a senator. Now he's the ex-husband of the victim. Taken quite the step down in the world there, eh Larry? He's also played 2 different characters on CSI, been on both of the CSI spinoffs, How I Met Your Mother, The Mentalist, Crossing Jordan, and was in 17 Again. Mr. Poindexter, we salute you.
They find the roller derby rink, Bones is very amused by all the stage names, thinks she should give nicknames to her interns.
They find drugs in Melinda's system. Apparently she also slept with a guy on the front lawn of her ex-husband's house, but he has an alibi.
Hodgins keeps making fun of Wendell for turning 30, asks if he's done everything on his before-30 bucket list, one of which apparently should be 'pose naked for a hot art student'. Wendell says he has done that, but 'not a student'. And I realised it a full minute before Hodgins did, it was Angela he was talking about. Then they have an awkward stare-down, and Wendell asks him to forget about it, 'as my birthday present'. Haahaha talk about awkward!
Angela decides to go undercover as a derby girl, to look for blood on the girls' skating gear.

She's pretty good but then she kind of gets her butt kicked - well, shoved - off the side of the rink. That safety fence should really be higher. She bonds with some of the girls, and one mentions that someone had been stealing stuff from the locker room.
Apparently the victim was beaten to death and also stabbed, based on the blood spatter on her clothing. And then Cam asks Bones what's going on with Booth, Bones says "There's nothing wrong with Booth - But I can't tell you." And Cam points out that those statements contradict one another.
Angela goes drinking with one of the other girls from the team, and she's drunk, basically repeating everything the other girl says hahah.. She made Booth come get her and pretend to be her boyfriend. Which is hilarious. Apparently the team manager-guy was skimming money off the team, and Melinda confronted him about it. But he says there was no animosity between them, they were actually sleeping together.
Cam goes to the hospital and talks to a doctor, who knows Booth but won't tell her what's wrong. The doctor is a specialist in a disease that causes tumors to grow on nerves. And Cam thinks it might be about Christine, which was my first thought too, but then I realised this is only a big deal to Booth, which wouldn't be the case if it was Christine, Bones would care too.
Wendell says that his brother bet him that he would still be a loser when he's 29, which he's not, but he wants to be a
Bones realises that the cuts made on Melinda's body were strategically placed to major arteries, which drained the blood out of the body so there wouldn't be any arterial spray during dismemberment. Then she mentions that Melinda's ex-husband (our pal Larry from earlier) is a surgeon, making him suspect numero uno again.
Oh wait, it was actually a key that stabbed her - in the eye, no less, and it was the blonde lady whose name I don't remember. Because she thought that Melinda had been stealing from their lockers. The end.
Wendell, angela and Hodgins have a drink for Wendell's birthday, and Wendell gives Hodgins the painting Angela made of him - complete with the addition of heart-patterend boxers. Man, I love this show!!
It turns out that where Booth has been going is to volunteer with the charity that the doctor-lady runs. And he was secretive about it, because he thinks 'charity' should not be about showing off. And Bones takes her to see Booth volunteering with the kids, prompting Cam to ask "Why are we spying on children at a carnival??" Then Bones explains, and they both agree that Booth is a good man. I was also wondering if he was doing charity work!! I'm turning into my dad - guessing plot points before they happen!!

Bones - 'The Twist in the Plot'

I'm tired, and apparently tonight's episode of Bones is insane, so I want to catch up and watch it, but the 2 blogs before I get there will have to be my own version of point-form, because I don't have the energy to go into a lot of detail (sorry! I had 2 midterms today!! I'm exhausted!!). If you want the nitty-gritty detailed synopsis, here's the IMDb page for this episode: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2639530/synopsis But if you decide to stick around here, you'll get my patented sarcasm and fangirl squealing (and also my undying appreciation!) Thank you.
There's people. In the woods. On Segways. I love Segways, I have always wanted one, ever since the Weird Al video for 'White and Nerdy'. I got the chance to ride one several years ago at Science North in Sudbury, and got the hang of it better than any of my family! White and Nerdy, indeed.
Like bosses!! Except he can do his with no hands. I'm impressed.
Anyway, back to the people on Segways - fun fact, 'segway' is another word for 'transition' or 'moving smoothly on to the next point' in writing - the woman falls off of hers and down a little hill. She gets covered in bugs and there's a skull where she was lying.
Turns out Daisy is coming back to the lab (boo!) and Sweets is still living with Booth and Bones (yay!) but hasn't slept with a woman since they broke up (poor Sweets). However, I do like all the 'casual' scenes with him that are non-case-related lol he's so cute!!
Bones is looking at the crime scene and finds that there's a second one buried underneath. Daisy is back, keeps comparing herself to Brennan, much to Brennan's (and my) annoyance.
The victim, named Monica was not murdered, she was buried without a coffin or embalming through this company that offers 'natural' burials... In the forest. Creepy. The first person was a cancer victim. The second was a murder victim. Also, apparently when Hodgins dies he wants to be launched into the sun. Typical hahaha I'm just surprised he didn't want to be launched into orbit.
The second victim was Monica's 'death' consultant named Rachel.
Bones' last will and testament is 312 pages long, and Booth's is a sticky note saying 'everything goes to Bones'. Typical haha.
They go to the natural-burial company, and the 'end-of-life consultant' practising with a terminal patient for 'last rites' is someone whose voice I recognized long before he turned around - Vik Sahay a.k.a. Lester from Chuck!!!!!!!
I wonder what Jeff's up to these days...
He was always so weird, I forgot how cute he was... And I was usually distracted by Zachary Levi. He's shocked that Rachel is dead, and is crying and grabs Bones' hand and when they go to leave, he doesn't let go until she says "Can I have my hand back?"
Hodgins thinks Daisy is going to be pissed at Sweets and is going to want to stab him if she sees him (Don't give the crazy lady ideas, Hodgins!!), but she says she's 'throwing herself into work' like Dr. Brennan. In a condescending manner, naturally.
Angela and I are both noticing, Bones is in a surprisingly happy mood today... Weird.
Sweets and Booth talk to a guy who had tried to sue Rachel for backing out of a proposed business deal with him, he says she was sleeping with the Lester-guy (whose real name I didn't catch).
Sweets drops in to say hi to Daisy. She ignores his personal question about how she's doing, and just rattles on about the case. Awkward. Just LEAVE, Sweets!! She's apparently 'fine', but he's not. And she found out that Rachel was hit in the face (hard) about 6 or 7 months before she died. Lester (whose name is Mr. Mirza) says he didn't hit her in the face, they broke up 6 or 7 months ago. Apparently he accidentally smacked her with his elbow while they were having sex - and that's how she hurt her face. And she also had a weird 'arrangement' where she would only date a guy for 3 months maximum, and then move on.
Daisy tells Cam that Monica's cancer was not advanced enough to kill her, so now they have no clue how she died.
There were crushing wounds on Rachel, which contained trace of stone used to make a burial marker - which Mirza makes. Which is odd considering there wasn't one near Monica's grave. Apparently Bones and Booth have it though O.o Plot hole!!
Hodgin's beetles are becoming obese, which shouldn't happen with beetles, so he decides to use the coffee grinder to smush them up (naturally, since the blender is broken - methinks from the last time he used it to grind up maggots). Here's an idea, they should keep a blender or something JUST for the lab, so he doesn't have to keep contaminating and replacing all of Cam's kitchen appliances.
Sweets tries to talk to Booth about his feelings about Daisy and getting an apartment - Booth won't listen, and tells him to get drunk. Always with the wisdom, our Booth.
Because what would this episode be without being awkward, Sweets and Daisy go get coffee, and she says she's kinda seeing someone now, so he makes up an FBI-agent girlfriend so he doesn't seem like a loner. Oy vey. Does he not watch any TV or movies?? That NEVER works!!
With the possible exception of this one.
Alright, how much do you want to bet she was making it up too. As much as I hate to admit it, they were totally created for each other. Damn it.
The fat beetles had eaten flesh containing bath salts - which could be the reason Monica died before her cancer was advanced enough. Someone poisoned her.
Bones' planned funeral is a Tibetan 'sky funeral' where a llama master (for a second I thought she meant llama like the mammal - wake up Emily!!) basically dismembers and then pulverises the body, to allow for maximum scavenging by vultures.
O.O basically sums up both my and Booth's faces when she explained it.
Monica's husband had access to the bath salts used to kill her. And when Sweets confronts him about it, he admits that Monica had begged him to do it because she was in too much pain. Oh lordy, this just got really sad.
Booth realises based on the phone calls that the husband was making to Rachel that she and him were having an affair - for 3 months. OOOOHHHHH I kinda saw that coming, but it's a good twist (hence the title of this episode?). Booth gets him in the interrogation room, and he says "This room is a lot scarier than the last one... And you're a lot scarier than the psychologist." Haha amen to that.
This room is kind of creepy because it's so dark, but I've always wondered about the acoustics in there, because of the texture of the walls. I would love to drag a piano in there and see how it sounds. Is that weird?
Booth thinks he killed Rachel and put the grave marker back where it had been, because he felt guilty for cheating on his wife. And he killed Rachel because the 3 months was up right before Monica died, so he was upset about losing someone else at the same time. Ugh now I feel bad for the guy who sent one woman to her death, and helped another one reach hers earlier.
Cam sees Daisy sitting in the lab with mascara stains running down her cheeks. Because she's sad. And then they have a very touching conversation about how their relationship was 'vibrant and alive' and 'you can't bring something back to life and expect it to be as good as it was before'. And then Cam adds on "Also, stop copying Dr. Brennan. It's a little creepy." Attagirl!!!
Booth is making a will on video for Christine, and Bones walks in and watches him, and you can see her over his shoulder in the video (which is also a little creepy).
Did no one in the editing process notice how weird that looks?? It's a somber moment, and I can't stop laughing at the teeny Bones-head peeking over his shoulder!!

And his little speech makes me, and her, and him all start crying, and now I have a strong urge to phone my daddy!!
Then when he's saying goodbye to the video, Bones runs into the room and jumps onto him like a teenage girl and hugs him and he goes 'Oh come on, you messed up the ending now!' I love those two.
She's also made changes to her will - it's down to a mere 306 pages now, and she wants her ashes to be sprinkled in a volcano. Also, it's 'not her problem' how he gets to the top of the volcano to do so hahaha. Oh man. A good, cute, sweet, sappy ending to a pretty sad episode.
