Big Bang Theory - The Opening Night Excitation

Of course the guys are losing their minds trying to buy tickets for the new Star Wars movie, and of course this episode aired the night before the movie premiered - Sheldon almost prayed for tickets until Howard yelled 'Got em!'

But the movie premiered on Amy's birthday! Oh no!! "Surprise! She's even older now! Who could have seen that coming?" That would make a good slogan for a cake.
Better than this one, anyway...
Sheldon has another dream where Bob Newhart as his friend Arthur shows up - dressed in a Jedi robe. He convinces Sheldon to spend Amy's birthday actually with Amy, and so he calls her in the middle of the night to tell her. How considerate.

Apparently you can mess with Sheldon by having a different person say 'come in' than the one he names when he's knocking. (But couldn't he solve that by saying *Knock knock knock* "Penny and Bernadette")

Sheldon is afraid of sheep.

AND OH MY GOD. HIS SUGGESTION FOR A GIFT IS TO HAVE COITUS WITH AMY. HOLY TOLEDO!!
Pictured: Penny's glass after Sheldon dropped that news.
Hey! Wil Wheaton! Normally I'm excited to see him, but I kinda just want to get back to the other storyline... They've invited him to the premiere with them - but I'm kinda surprised, wouldn't sci-fi royalty like Wil Wheaton have tickets already?!

Professor Proton is disappointed by kids who refer to their private parts as 'junk'. Same, Arthur, same. I'm honestly surprised that Sheldon hadn't told his friends about his plans with Amy...
I wasn't expecting him to bust out Fez's dance, but at least he'd mention it casually...
OK, now I see why Wil wasn't invited to the premiere.. Everyone boos him for showing up in a Star Trek outfit. But seriously, sci-fi fans can't like both?

I love how giddy the studio audience gets whenever there's innuendo in a conversation between Sheldon and Amy hahaha - and here's a PSA for everyone out there, if Sheldon Cooper knows to ask for verbal consent, so should you!

Apparently Penny gave Sheldon bedroom tips - and he giggled? - Couldn't she have just made him read Cosmo? And now the show is drawing parallels between the guys, anticipating the movie, and Sheldon and Amy, anticipating their ... coitus. Very clever.

Sheldon enjoyed himself! Well that's surprising!

Big Bang Theory - The Earworm Reverbation

Sheldon has a song stuck in his head, and he's going insane over it - it's hilarious though because he just starts trying out random lyrics to go along with the tune.

Amy decides to ask Dave (a.k.a. the guy played by Stephen Merchant) out for dinner again. Even though the last time they went out, he fanboyed over Sheldon and Leonard...

Raj set up a fanpage for his band with Howard, causing Howard to freak out and want to quit the band, but then he changes his mind after they got a fan. So fickle, Howard. So very fickle.

Now Sheldon is sending himself a video diary of himself descending into madness. Also Amy invited Dave over to her house for dinner, which Bernadette says is "Very intimate - it's where your underpants live."

Now Howard and Raj are freaking out about everything their one fan is doing - he seems like a hipster type lol and they think he's so cool. Bernadette thinks it's creepy and stalker-ish. I concur.

Sheldon is still nuts. And now he owns a tuba! You know, it's funny, I think I actually kind of recognize the tune - I think I know the next line of notes but not what comes after that.

Apparently Nikola Tesla fell in love with a pigeon.
You do you, Nik.
But Sheldon remembers the song! It's by the Beach Boys!

Apparently Raj & Howard's fan picks his nose, which is gross, so they run away from following him at the lab.

Sheldon associated that song with Amy, and calls her 'the dryer sheets of my heart'... Aww this is sad.
Catchy song though

Dave kisses Amy, and she freaks out a little, and then Sheldon shows up at that precise moment. Dave freaks out, and Sheldon says he wants her back, and she says yes Dave keeps leaning into the door to offer advice hahaha this show is hilarious... and then they kiss! Yay!

Big Bang Theory - The Platonic Permutation

Sheldon has an extra ticket to an aquarium dinner on Thanksgiving, because he bought one for Amy but then they broke up. Too bad everyone else already has plans!

So he has to take Amy instead - this is shaping up to be hella awkward.
Bernadette, Emily, Raj, and Howard show up to help at a soup kitchen, which is nice of them, and hey, now we've established how close Emily and Bernadette are!

Apparently Penny doesn't know Leonard's birthday! This is an embarrassing twist.. Penny's birthday is December 2nd, by the way, this is news. His is in May but she doesn't know when!

Howard will do nothing but complain. He's a greedy bugger. Amy's steering wheel seems comically large, and Sheldon wants to know if she's had coitus with any other men.

Leonard knows everything there is to know about Penny, which is hella impressive - but he read her journal! Sneaky bastard! But within like 10 seconds there, there were two things that reminded me of How I Met Your Mother - hatred of the word 'moist', and the mention of a slutty orange vegetable.
Moist. Moist. Moist.
The rest of the gang at the soup kitchen abandons Howard to go work 'up front', while he's stuck doing the dishes. That can't be fun. It's the worst job in the world and now he doesn't even have his friends to talk to.

I feel you Leonard, I often use the word 'GAAAHHH' when I'm excited. I will admit it sounds weird out loud, though.

Elon Musk is randomly at the soup kitchen, because that's what famous people do (also I had no idea what Elon Musk looked like) and Howard starts sucking up to him because he's a big fan, and he lies about being there voluntarily.

Ohhh Amy, the game is totally 'fuck marry kill' but I get it, you had to keep it PG for TV. And oh hey, Spongebob reference!
Any Spongebob reference is a good one.
OH MY LORD LEONARD IS WEARING THE ORANGE SLUTTY CARROT LINGERE!!!! MY EYES!!!

Poor Amy, she was doing so well and now suddenly she's all confused in the feelings department and now she wants to be Sheldon's girlfriend again. And he rejects her and now she's sad and now I feel sad too. Poor Amy.

But hold on, isn't Howard going to be exposed to Elon Musk as a big fat phony?? This is the problem with these damn 19-minute episodes, I always feel like one of the plots doesn't get wrapped up properly.

And would you look at that, now I'm all caught up!

Big Bang Theory - The Mystery Date Observation

Here's the thing - I have a grievance with the fact that this show has been whittled down to 19 minutes of actual content because of stupid commercials, but then they used a whole minute for a recap that didn't need to be nearly that long (they included unnecessary punchlines when they could have just hit the major plot points. Chuck and Friends used to be so good at that.)

Sheldon decided he needs a new girlfriend so that he will focus on his work again. He asks Howard and Raj to find him one and they get distracted, because that's what they do.
Jon recognizes this trope
Amy is wearing a short dress - all the way to her knees! And she finally gives Penny and Bernadette a few details about her new beau, and OH MY GOD PENNY AND BERNADETTE ARE TOTALLY LIKE MY ROOMMATES WITH THE SQUEALING and now they're planning to spy on Amy on her date - I hope mine would never do that...

Raj and Howard plan out a bunch of puzzles that a woman needs to solve before she can get his contact information. Funny - but in the real world I'm sure something like that would sit around for months if not years before anyone took a crack at it.

Oh my god! Amy's date is Stephan Merchant!! That British dude who you may all remember as the spindly-legged fellow from this video who is not Joseph Gordon-Levitt:
(But you should definitely watch that video because yes, JGL is the best part of that video, as he is in all the things)

Bernadette would make an excellent spy. She's got the equipment, but hardly the subtlety. It still seems weird to think of Leonard and Penny as married.

And OF COURSE Amy's date has heard of Sheldon! And he's a fanboy. Just wants to know everything about him. And meet him. This is the second time in three episodes that Bernadette has taken off on someone she was supposed to drive home. But she backed into Dave's car, and they came out and saw them, and freaked out over Leonard because apparently he's famous too.

Sheldon really didn't want the girl who solved the puzzle to be Jennifer Lawrence. Because she's not too busy to be solving puzzles on the Internet. But hey, it's another girl with similar hair! Played by Analeigh Tipton! I did not know she cut her hair... But he shuts the door in her face because she missed the deadline by less than a minute (and found electronic spectroscopy boring). There is officially no hope for Sheldon.

... Or for Amy.

Big Bang Theory - The Spock Resonance

Wil Wheaton is back! And so is Leonard Nimoy's son - who is doing a documentary they want to interview Sheldon for.

Bernadette wants to redecorate the house, and Howard is resistant. Now he's guilt-tripping her because his dad left and his mom died and he doesn't want to change anything because everything reminds him of them.

Aww... Nimoy's son looks just like him! And Sheldon loved Spock because he lived in a logic-based world without irrational emotion. Did you know there was a wall safe behind the whiteboard behind the giant DNA model? And a floor safe? And a security camera in Aquaman?? (Cos Leonard didn't).

No, apparently Adam doesn't count as Nimoy DNA. Only the napkin does! I'm so glad they did a callback to that, that episode was one of my favourites ever. The dialogue about Sheldon having a Wil, (a miniature Wheaton) and an actual will, 'in which he wills his Wil back to Wil' was pretty great!
Look, it's little Wil!
OH MY GOD I FORGOT PENNY AND THE GUYS DIDN'T KNOW HE WAS GOING TO PROPOSE TO AMY!!!! They found the ring in his safe and he told them, all matter-of-factly, and Penny lost her shit, much like I did when it was revealed in the season 8 finale.

Instead of 'What would Jesus do?', Sheldon decided to model himself after 'What would Spock do?' - so maybe he isn't naturally devoid of emotions, it's a learned behaviour. And he gets upset when Penny points out that he has emotion, just like the half of Spock that was human. Bravo, Penny.

Not all houses have a space to crawl under them from the outside, some have foundations that are built into the ground... And Howard wants kids, but Bernadette doesn't, and he tells her father that WHILE they're under the house. Not a smart move.

Raj is hilarious. So is Bernadette's dad.

Sheldon decides he's off to propose to Amy, but then he sees her kiss some guy outside her building. So he turns around and leaves.

Big Bang Theory - The Helium Insufficiency

Apparently telling someone their face is 'pleasingly symmetrical' will soften the blow of bad news. Note to self.

There's a worldwide helium shortage - how the hell does that happen?! And Sheldon and Leonard need some or else a Swedish team will perform the same experiment before them. Oh dear. Also, Barry Kripke won't give them any of his because he's an ass, but we already knew that.

Stuart is using some kind of non-name-branded Tinder. Now Amy's using it. This is funny, everyone else is making her choices for her.

Oh my god, the sketchy guy they're buying helium off of is played by Michael Rapaport!! The blonde cop guy who Phoebe dated on Friends! The guy with the most Brooklyn-iest accent I've ever heard!
Weirdly enough, I remember the actor's name more often than the character's. (It was Gary)
And Sheldon gives him a vocabulary lesson - "All these years I've been using 'stalemate' when all along I meant 'impasse'. I feel foolish."

Also, because everything reminds me of The Princess Bride, this scene reminds me of The Princess Bride, because that's the movie that taught me the word 'impasse'.
"We are at an impasse"
Amy and her friends are sitting around making fun of all the guys who come up on her app - and for some reason they're all really unattractive. Are there no hot douchebags on this app?! Also Stuart - whose name appeared onscreen and reassured me that I am, in fact, spelling it right.

For some reason Sheldon and Leonard dressed the helium tank up as a person in order to sneak it into the lab... Because that's super convincing. Also they think it was stolen from the government, so Sheldon starts freaking out.

Turns out Amy already went on a date!! And they're right, Tinder would make a great drinking game!! Penny squealing over Amy's date sounded like my roommate when they found out I met a cute guy at a bar and got his number. (It was Halloween. He was dressed as a Power Ranger. Good times were had by all.)

Sheldon and Leonard decide to give the helium back to the guy, and he charges more money for it, but then Kripke wants to get partial credit on their paper if he gives them his helium, so they go back and get it again. And now they're buddies with him, because he's one of those adorably smart bad guys. That was a nice ending.

Big Bang Theory - The 2003 Approximation

Oh dear. I knew Leonard was going to have to move in with Penny, but they didn't have to inform Sheldon about it so abruptly. Poor guy. At least let him sit down first!

Bernadette was only Sheldon's 7th choice of female to talk to... Which is a bummer, she would have been one of my top 3 for sure, she's very thoughtful.

Howard and Raj are going to make music together. This is a weird idea. Sheldon last week, Howard this week, suddenly everyone on this show has a falsetto.

Sheldon thinks that Argon is 'too big for its britches'. I don't understand this. For some reason he wants to live with Chris Pratt. Uhh... hate to break it to you (and a lot of fangirls) Sheldon, but I'm pretty sure he's married.
One of the cutest celebrity couples ever
Sheldon's decided to pretend it's back in 2003. He has a 'cutting edge new flip phone' hahaha I was 10 in 2003, I can confirm that the kids were indeed saying 'talk to the hand'.

Raj's go-to definition of the word 'cute' is children dressed as vegetables. I agree. That's an excellent example.
Grade-A level organic cuteness right here
Emily doesn't like their song because you can't dance to it, which makes Howard mad and says she's breaking up the band. Does that make her Yoko Ono in this scenario? If so, does that make Raj John Lennon? Because Howard is definitely Ringo.

I'm surprised how eager Sheldon is to be compared to a dog. But I definitely empathize with his fear about all his friends leaving him because they're in relationships and he's all alone. I've always had the same problem myself. I think that little speech right there was the most I've ever related to him. It was weird, I don't like it.

I think that shot of Leonard laughing at the song was a real reaction shot. No acting there.
The final criticism comes from Stuart: "Play something we can dance to" hahahahaha
Why can't you guys be more like this Stewart? He can dance to anything.

The Big Bang Theory - The Separation Oscillation

I will admit, my new school schedule wherein I don't have class on Mondays or Fridays has really messed with my sense of time - as in, I never know what day of the week it is. Having said that, I very well might have forgotten to watch tonight's TV shows regardless, because instead I was watching a man do this:

It's a bird! It's a plane! No! It's SUPER-PILLAR!!!!
But I digress.

Sheldon wants Leonard to see their early-into-marriage separation as a win for efficiency. He also used the phrase 'some hardcore mouth-on-mouth action'. AND THEN HE KISSES PENNY!!

Nevermind, Leonard was just having a nightmare. *Whew* Real-life Sheldon would totally use the word 'dalliance' though.

Sheldon keeps bothering Amy, and refers to their show Fun with Flags as a 'baby'. And then he starts talking about Sonny & Cher, which is not a pop culture reference I would have expected Sheldon to make.

Apparently Sheldon's capable of NOT doing his knocking ritual if he's not friends with someone. He thinks it's a 'privilege' for people to get to see it. And then he took one of Penny's bras to her apartment to try to make her jealous, but naturally she knows better.

Everyone is either mad at Howard for telling them the secret about Leonard and the girl on the boat (Bernadette) or not telling them and leaving them out of the loop (Raj). Soooo much drama.
Jon can't handle the drama
Sheldon suggests that Penny meet the girl from work so she'd feel better after seeing that she has nothing to be jealous of. Leonard thinks this is a bad idea, and Penny gets more mad.

Naturally, she turns to the girls to figure out what she should do, and Bernadette does a REALLY terrible job of convincing everyone she didn't know about the kiss beforehand. Kinda like this:
You're not fooling anyone, Pheebs.
Sheldon does a Fun with Flags episode where he is sad and depressed and accidentally makes a clueless double entendre. And he's bitter. Reeeeally bitter.

This Mandy girl seems nice, even if she does think Sheldon and Leonard are gay, and slept with all the other guys on the boat... I ain't here to judge.

Sheldon's throwing shade at Amy via the Fun with Flags episode. Lots and lots of shade. Last week I kind of felt bad for him, but now he's just being douchey...

Leonard and Penny made up, he owned up the the fact that he was just feeling insecure all along because he doesn't feel like he deserves her. Awww... He called her 'Penny Hofstader' which is interesting because I just remember we never actually learn her maiden name. Weird.
And Sheldon gives them a wedding gift, a trip to San Francisco but he's coming too. Awkward.

Sheldon's delusional, as always. He thinks Amy wants him back, buuuut I don't see that happening. Now she's the one I feel sorry for...

Big Bang Theory - The Matrimonial Momentum

Sorry all my posts are late today - I was watching the Blue Jays game. Normally I'd have been all over 3 shows premiering in the same day, but meaningful September baseball is a priority!!
No, Ron, no I do not!!
Leonard and Penny are about to get married, and Sheldon calls and interrupts them to tell him about his breakup with Amy. Poor Sheldon! He's heartbroken! And sounds like a sassy teenager.

Amy is mega-insulted, also sounds like a sassy teenager. Sheldon's being passive-aggressive. Apparently it's pathetic to watch a wedding (even on the internet) without a date. Oops I might be pathetic then... I've never had a date to any of the weddings I've been to. Although, I was 7 when I went to the first one, so that might not count...

"We make everyone feel awkward, that's our thing!" Sheldon has never been so self-aware hahaha

Vegas weddings always seemed so sad to me. I couldn't imagine having no control over my wedding, or not having any friends or family there. Not that I'm getting married anytime soon...

Penny doesn't have any proper vows prepared, so she just recites the lyrics to 'You've Got a Friend in Me'. Which I thought was weird (so did the minister) but Leonard loved it, so that's good!

Sheldon insults Amy and they have a huge fight and she decides they're officially broken up - right in the middle of the wedding. So everyone missed the end of the ceremony.

Leonard screws up by continuing to talk about that girl he'd kissed. Apparently he works with her, and Penny freaks out, and well there goes the honeymoon!

Sheldon's mom! I love Sheldon's mom. He's sworn off women and pop rocks, because apparently they both hurt you on purpose.
Pop rocks: Practically the same thing as a woman
Penny's hair sprouted some length on the drive home from Las Vegas... No WAY it was long enough to pull into a mini-bun the night before.

Apparently if one's hands are full, saying 'knock knock knock' is a good enough substitute for Sheldon's ritual. He lets slip that the girl Leonard made out with is 'brilliant and attractive', and Penny's reaction to that was priceless.

Stewart continues to be kinda creepy, first hitting on newly-single Amy and then saying 'innnteresting' when he finds out Penny is at home alone.

So nothing really got resolved in this one, I gotta say that's a bit disapointing! Leonard and Sheldon are both sad, Penny's miffed, and Amy's alone. And everyone else had minimal screentime. Let's hope next week ties up some loose ends!

Catching up: Big Bang Theory

Hey everyone, first of all I want to say thanks for reading! :) I do this for fun and it's super-rewarding to have people read all the goofy things I have to say.

Secondly, due to the end of the school year, between assignments, exams, and packing up to come home, I've fallen really behind on some of my shows. I had a late class on Thursday so I couldn't actually watch BBT live, and then I just never caught up.

Catching up actually takes more time than it should, because I'm always pausing the episode to keep up to the storyline (since there are no commercials) and to be honest, a marathon of that seems kind of not fun. Since this is supposed to be a fun project, I don't want to feel like I'm stressing out over getting caught up on something I should enjoy!!

I've also been sick in bed with a stomach bug for the past few days, so now would be the perfect time to catch up on watching, but I don't think I have the energy to write about everything. So I think what I'll do is watch and then write a quick summary of my thoughts all in one catch-all post here. I'm sorry if this disappoints anyone and if you want me to go more in-depth about a particular episode, leave a comment and maybe I'll go back and write another one when I have more time.

These are the episodes I've missed:

Episode 18 - The Leftover Thermalization (Airdate: March 12th)

Sheldon knows pi to 1000 places. He is officially Weird Al's 'White and Nerdy' come to life. Howard freaks out about his mother's food defrosting (well if you didn't stand there with the FREEZER OPEN it could have stayed cold...) and I want to hug him, it's so sad...
Raj drops some 'culinary science' which is hilarious, as is Penny buying Leonard random stuff to cheer him up. Raj pronounces Thor as 'Tor'. Which is weird cos I definitely recall him being able to say it correctly in previous episodes.
Melissa Rauch gets to use her Mrs. Wolowitz voice and HOWARD FINALLY NOTICES THE SIMILARITY!!

Episode 19 - The Skywalker Incursion (Airdate: April 2nd)

Leonard and Sheldon have a philosophical discussion about 'Play that Funky Music White Boy'. Howard has a Tardis and Bernadette wants to sell it. Penny like Game of Thrones, and Sheldon invented the phrase 'lightly stabbed'. And then he runs onto Skywalker Ranch and gets tased.
This is possibly the most pathetic ping-pong game I've ever seen. Aaand Amy gets the Tardis.

Episode 20 - The Fortification Implimentation (Airdate: April 9th)

Surprise Wil Wheaton!! And OH MY GOD Howard has a half-brother!! That's so exciting!!!
Also surprise Kevin Smith! (in voice form)
Oh Wil, you little pot-stirrer you! I have a friend like that. Now Leonard and Penny are turning into Howard and Bernadette with the income imbalance.
Amy and Sheldon made a blanket fort and I'm so jealous. I miss doing that as a kid... Sheldon thinks their fort is better than Fort Knox, "Because Fort Knox doesn't have a secret physics lending library". I would like to point out that if they did, you wouldn't know!! AND OH MY GOD THEY'RE HAVING A SLEEPOVER!!!

Episode 21 - The Communication Deterioration (Airdate: April 16th)

Leonard and Raj are acknowledging their omega-male status, Howard is being childish (what else is new) and Sheldon warns Penny that his three-knock thing is addicting. But he won't give her any proper advice. Until she uses a train analogy.

Episode 22 - The Graduation Transmission (Airdate: April 23rd)

Raj bought an awesome helicopter and his father cuts him off financially. Leonard ends up wearing what is essentially a dress (too-short graduation gown).
My highschool graduation class didn't get caps. We had red robes that looked like they belonged on a gospel choir. Leonard's speech was awesome and so inspiring, and then the helicopter got a mind of its own and began going amok. Fun!

Episode 23 - The Maternal Combustion (Airdate: April 30th)

Christine Baranski is a treasure. She is the best. I'm so happy they finally got Leonard and Sheldon's mothers in the same episode. Also Penny's ring used to be a drill bit and Howard/Raj/Stuart are now Bernadette's lazy teenage children. Penny's sarcasm killed me in this episode. But wait, no Amy? What's up with that?

They did a really good job in this part of the season, keeping the situations somewhat fresh and the dialogue was definitely new, I hate when a sitcom kind of gets into a rut of predictability. Well done, writers!

Big Bang Theory - The Colonization Application

Greetings! I am SO not looking forward to blogging after Bones comes back in a few weeks - that makes 2 in one day I have to make up for because of class. *Sigh* Here we go...

Penny apparently doesn't carry a purse when she goes out anymore - there's no way her wallet fit in those pockets, ladypants aren't built for such things - unless she makes Leonard pay for everything...

Sheldon and Amy have exciting news, and Penny and Leonard seem more apprehensive than excited... And the news is - THEY'RE GETTING A TURTLE!! That actually cracked me up because it was so out of left field.
ALSO THEY'RE FREAKING CUTE!!!
Emily may or may not have killed her roommate. Sheldon is afraid of puppies. And he applied to go be one of those Mars colonists - why am I not surprised?! Also, how can a turtle look Italian? (Those two things are related, I swear).

Leonard went to the 'dirty' store, and Howard spends too much at the Lego store. Raj is snooping in his girlfriend's nightstand and accidentally breaks it, so he's afraid she'll be pissed once she realized. Where did she get such a flimsy piece of furniture?

How does Penny have paint all over herself and not on her engagement ring?!! And why would they put on their bathrobes OVER the paint? Before showering?! Way to ruin perfectly nice housecoats. (Also I noticed that's not Leonard's usual one - did he get a new one? Does Penny have two?)
RIP old friend.
The turtle apparently bit Sheldon, so that's a no-go... Amy is still pissed, the gang warned him she would react that way, and so he makes her tea.

I love sarcastic Howard. We need more of him.

While Sheldon's brother was getting an STD, he was getting a PhD. BRILLIANT. OMG WE CAN SEE THE FOURTH WALL OF THE APARTMENT!!! THIS IS AWESOME!! And Sheldon threw a pie in Leonard's face in his 'I wanna go to Mars' video. How is that related?? Also he's very fond of the echo effect.

Emily gets mad, predictably so, and Howard and Bernadette are still on the other end of a video call, so they can hear the whole thing. Awkward.
Seriously Raj, assembling furniture isn't that hard.
It's weird that there's purple on Penny and Leonard's... painting... But none on either of them. Suspicious. [Edit: it's entirely possible that the purple, or red and blue that then combined, were on the parts of them that the bathrobes covered]

Sheldon was gonna offer to withdraw his application, but then he decided to ask her to apply for the Mars trip too. And she reminds him that procreation would have to be part of the trip, and he's a little taken aback at first, but then totally onboard since he realizes that their hypothetical kids would be Martians. Awwww...

EMILY'S DEAD ROOMMATE IS TOTALLY IN HER CLOSET!!!!  (Just kidding).
They need an episode dedicated to that closet. Like this one.

Big Bang Theory - The Intimacy Acceleration

I'm such a bad fan, I keep forgetting when the darn show airs... Stupid evening classes.

Anyways, if you haven't seen the previous week's episode, stop reading right now and go watch it (or read my recap here) because I don't want to spoil the big thing that happened for you. Also, get tissues.

Amy is discussing that study about how people can fall in love after asking one another a series of questions, and then looking into each other's eyes for four minutes. I have to say, I read about that study and I think it's really fascinating... And now I kind of want to try it out on some unsuspecting male friend hahaha (although the eye-gazing might be a hard thing to manage).
Not creepy at all...
Raj suggests that Sheldon try the experiment and I can see already that this is going to be interesting! I mean he's already told her that he loves her, how much more do we think HE is going to 'accelerate'?! But apparently he's doing the experiment with Penny. Well that's even more interesting!!

Now Amy and Leonard are going to do the experiment?! Why are you people messing with your pairings? This has A Midsummer Night's Dream written all over it... Good thing they decided not to.

Howard is freaking out at the airport because the airline somehow MISPLACED HIS MOTHER'S ASHES holy shit I know sitcoms always use the 'everything is going wrong' thing but holy crap that's horrible.

This is weird, I've also just recently heard of those 'escape room' puzzle challenge thingys, and now Emily's suggesting she, Raj, Leonard, and Amy go to one. They've taken plot points out of my brain. CUT THAT OUT!

OY that girl who is the host of the escape room was totally in another episode of this show!!! She was one of the 'goth girls' that Raj and Howard picked up at the bar in Season 3!!
She's the one on the left. (Not that anyone cares)
And poor Howard's bag with the ashes (that surprises me, you'd think that ashes would need to be transported via biohazard things.. or maybe not. I dunno) has apparently gotten picked up by someone else.

And Penny and Sheldon are actually kind of getting along and getting closer. This is nice! They haven't had many one-on-one bonding stories lately!
Not since this escapade, at least.
I always have felt so bad for the airline employees who get yelled at when something goes wrong - obviously it's not her fault that the bag was lost! She was in another city! It's the perfect alibi! Poor Howard has a serious guilt complex over not taking his mother to the airport. And I have a sudden urge to call my mom.

The gang at the puzzle room is solving everything too fast. So they just finish it (while the zombie guy is just kinda standing there and lurching at them). Because they're all geniuses, except for Emily. Although that did kinda look like fun.

Oh god the eye contact thing is so creepy (even though they're not supposed to talk, they are) even though Sheldon says he's comfortable around Penny and that's so sweet!!

Also it's Sheldon's birthday! Nobody has ever known when his birthday is!! That's awesome!! And he thinks of her as a sister and I'm welling up because I'm so incredibly sappy. It's been eight years! And she's still eating their food! Nothing has changed! But now they feel closer, and psychology has once again proven itself the 'doofus of the sciences'. She walked him home, that's hilarious. Aaaand the gang was waiting to yell 'surprise' haha I guess there goes their newfound closeness...

Big Bang Theory - The Comic Book Store Regeneration

I went home this week for reading week, and kind of forgot what day of the week it was, so I did not watch BBT on time (sorry). My dad reminded me and told me to watch it, said it made him cry. (That may be an exaggeration, I can never tell with him). But here we go!

A good joke not only entertains, but informs. And it takes no Edisons to screw in a lightbulb - he stole the idea and therefore doesn't deserve any credit.

Kripke is back!! Sheldon is jealous for once, because Amy helped Kripke with something,

Speaking of jealousy, Howard is mad that his mom wants him to check on Stewart.

And part of me expected Penny to start singing 'Let it Go' when she was giving Sheldon advice. And something tells me that Jim Parsons missed the dryer by accident when throwing that dyer sheet. And then he just went with it. What a pro.
I still can't believe he didn't pass out laughing at this.
I like the new store, it seems a lot bigger. Leonard and Raj clearly went to the Emily School of Avoiding Awkwardness - lesson one, always offer to do someone a favour so that you can leave when a fight is starting.

Amy has been testing Penny's intelligence with a series of puzzles - testing in comparison tochimps in her lab. So now Penny is the one mad at her.

"I didn't marry you for good points, I married you to blindly support you no matter how ridiculous I'm being!!" That's my future relationship goal, let's be honest. (Although usually I'm the one with the good points).

The guys met Nathan Fillion!! But he's pretending to not be Nathan Fillion... Because if he actually were Nathan Fillion, he would have given them one of these:
He's pretty cool. He's also Canadian!! (Which is probably why he's so cool!)

Apparently Penny is smarter than chimps - but Leonard is not. And I LOVE SARCASTIC PENNY!!! CAN WE HAVE MORE OF HER PLEASE!!!

Ohhhh shit. Howard's mom died. I totally knew this was coming ever since the actress, Carol Ann Susi, passed away last November, but still everyone just looks so sad... And I still don't know if my dad actually cried, but I definitely am... And they said she was like a mother to all of them. Aww that's so sweet. Because she was usually just the butt of all the jokes, but I'm glad they all liked her too. And I'm so disappointed we never got to see her!
Rest in peace Carol Ann. We'll miss your yelling.

Big Bang Theory - The Anxiety Optimization/The Troll Manifestation

Full disclosure: I kind of forgot Big Bang Theory was back on, because they were gone for a few weeks after Christmas, and I have a class that interferes with the timeslot anyways... Oops. I'll try to bang off two episodes really quickly.

Episode 13 - The Anxiety Optimization

Bernadette's nickname for Sheldon is 'the virgin pina colada'. Clever! He's white, alcohol free, and a little nutty. And having someone sneak up on you while you're wearing noise-cancelling headphones is NOT FUN. My dad walks really quietly and sneaks up on my CONSTANTLY. If I ever have a real heart attack, it will be because I've been startled too often by that man.

Apparently 'a murder' and 'spontaneous coitus with Leonard' would cause Penny to make the same sounds of distress.

Raj's dog drinks his bath water. Ew. And he clearly loves her more than his girlfriend!!

I'm agreeing with Sheldon even more this episode - the squeaky noises balloons make is the WORST!!
'Emily or Cinnamon' is becoming my favourite quiz game hahaha you can play it here:  http://www.cbs.com/shows/big_bang_theory/photos/1003326/a-big-bang-theory-game-emily-or-cinnamon-/
Sheldon asks them all to disagree with him in order to increase his anxiety level and THEY'RE SO GOOD AT IT!! Clearly they've been holding that in for YEARS...
And it turns out Sheldon loves Taylor Swift!!
Don't we all, Sheldon, don't we all...
Raj is a Libra! Hey me too! And so is Cinnamon...
Sheldon is not behaving properly on date night, his hat is stinky, and he has been hallucinating lately. If Jim Parsons doesn't win another Emmy this season, for this episode alone, I cry foul!
Oh no, he's taking the bus without his bus pants!! And he thinks the guy beside him is an armadillo.
Raj has dog hair in his mouth. Ew. Although that may not be his fault - I regularly find cat hair in my bowls of cereal, and my cat gets nowhere near the dishware.

Episode 14 - The Troll Manifestation

Sheldon finally gets to give Leonard a 'good job' sticker he's been saving for ages. I'm so proud!
The two of them finally work together on something - I recall this not going over very well in the past... And Sheldon needs to stop eating scented marks!!
Raj is no good at improv.
Not everyone can be these dudes.
The girls have decided to watch Penny's killer-gorilla movie. Which is terrible.
Sheldon and Leonard's paper gets an anonymous troll commenting on it. And Sheldon wants to fire back at him because 'when you mess with the bull, you get the horns, and I'm gonna show him just how horny I can be'. At the risk of sounding like Archer - PHRASING!!
Penny finds a video of Bernadette in a beauty pageant, and Penny thinks she looks like a cupcake. I think she looks more like a certain video game princess...

Amy writes Little House on the Prairie fanfiction about herself and a time-traveling physicist named Cooper. (which doesn't make sense because fanfiction should involve characters from the original fiction...)
The troll calls the physicists 'no better than engineers' and that is such an insult to them, naturally. Sheldon threatens the troll and says 'fine let's meet in person' and then the guy tries to Skype them - but how does Sheldon know it's the same guy?? He was anonymous online!!

Turns out the troll was Stephen Hawking!! And he was just messing with them because he was bored and he actually really liked their paper!! AWWWWWE!!! I love that he has a sense of humour. (Also I really hope Eddie Redmayne wins the Oscar for playing him in The Theory of Everything)
I love that Bernadette and Penny get so invested in the fanfiction hahaha after they made fun of her...
Well hello there, Sheldon's back...
Leonard actually gets sort of into it too... that is, until they reach a love scene and then he's had enough haha. No surprise there. *Cringe*

Big Bang Theory - The Space Probe Disintegration

BBT won the 'favourite TV show' award last night at the People's Choice Awards - I was a little surprised that it beat Game of Thrones but I guess it appeals to more people than GoT. Johnny Galecki looked very orange when they accepted.

Sheldon wants to play Lord of the Rings Risk, which apparently will take eight hours. The girls are going to veto their plans, and choose something to do instead. But it turns out Amy's ideas are just as unappealing to Amy. Amy's hips don't open wider than 22 degrees, which is why she can't go horseback riding. And she has brittle ankles. Sheldon is afraid of Zambonis, so skating is out.

Raj is part of a space probe team and is freaking out about whether or not the probe (on its way to Pluto) will work. Howard attempts to distract him and apparently Raj didn't actually crash a stationary bike, he got lightheaded and fell off. Because his playlist was too up-tempo. See, this is why I don't exercise.
Wise words.
The girls end up shopping and the guys just have to sit around and hold their purses. But there's no cell service so they are incredibly bored. Everytime Sheldon goes to use his phone but remembers he can't, he goes 'son of a biscuit' and it's hilarious. (Although this is silly, there are plenty of games and apps that work without service, are you telling me neither of them has Angry Birds?)
Especially considering this exists.
I'm really distracted by all the pretty dresses on the rack behind Sheldon. I really want to go dress shopping now... Plot twist! Sheldon knows how to drive! Apparently Amy taught him. And he gets the pedals mixed up. He also thinks it's generous of him to not tell Leonard that he has lettuce in his teeth.

Raj is now becoming somewhat religious, which astonishes Howard. Howard also thinks Albert Einstein slept with Marilyn Monroe. Which is news to me...

I don't understand why TV shows/movies always have change room doors that cover from people's shoulders to their knees. Just so the characters can converse. That's so impractical.  I mean what if a customer is taller? Or the fact that someone can just walk up and look *over* the door?!!
Although then I guess this scene wouldn't have happened without the ridiculous door heights... Nevermind.
Sheldon says he can see his ears in his peripheral vision. And now I've strained my eyes attempting to see mine. They get in a fight and Sheldon tells Leonard to move out with Penny and this is really sad... Sheldon's crying and Leonard's crying and now I feel bad!! Wow this really must mean a lot to Sheldon, he agreed to let Leonard whistle! (When he's not home, of course).

Raj is getting really deep right now and I'm really impressed... Oh wait nevermind, he flipped out because some guy opened his door into his car, and apparently his dog's hair got cut so that 'she looks like Jim Carrey from Dumb and Dumber' hahaha - but it's all ok! The probe turned itself on! It's all okay!

Penny relents and lets Amy pick the next activity, which is basket weaving!! To be perfectly honest, that does seem kinda like a neat hobby, I just have no clue what I'd do with a bunch of baskets.

Big Bang Theory - The Clean Room Infiltration

I know this is incredibly late, and once again I'm sorry (Exams SUCK! At least they're done now!) but my dad told me there was an 'awww' moment in this episode, so... Better late than never!

Amy's hosting Christmas dinner, and we might actually get to see Raj's dad in person rather than on Skype!

Leonard and Howard let a pigeon into the clean room at the university which is bad - but they also aren't wearing gloves, I feel like that's not allowed.
We have to wear 'bunny suits' like that in forensics lab at school. They are not comfortable.
I don't remember Raj's dad having white hair before...  Penny's dress is so pretty, and Dr. Koothrappali keeps telling everyone really unpleasant stories about marriage and how it always fails. Sheldon hates Christmas carols and thinks kissing Amy under mistletoe in public is akin to being on a 'Tijuana sex show'.

Howard thinks Leonard is jealous because they apparently used to be best friends before Raj came to town. When exactly was that? Raj finally stands up for himself.

Sheldon actually does love Amy, he notices all these adorable little details about her. But he wants to get her a gift as 'revenge' for making him celebrate Christmas.
You can never convince me that he is not just an overgrown child.
Penny and her sarcasm are bonding with Raj's dad. And they're actually trying to blow a ball of yarn across the table!

Howard can't handle the fire extinguisher. The blanket in their plan would have been more his speed. THEY KILLED THE PIGEON!! Horrible!!! (At least they can get rid of it now... Howard is a serial bird-killer. And now he's going to try to do CPR on it, and my inner germaphobe is cringing. But he does it! It's a Hanukkah miracle!!! ... But then they let a crow in. Smooth move, boys.

Penny has the solution - take their names off the sign-in sheet and leave! Sheldon hates raisins, but when he finds out they're figs, he's ok with it.

Amy loves her gift, and then it also plays a message in the frame - which Sheldon mouths along with. Turns out she got him a gift after all!! She made his Meemaw's Christmas cookies, which apparently 'taste like Meemaw's hugs'. And an onion ninja has apparently snuck into my house, because my eyes are watering like crazy.
AWWWWW!!!!!
And everyone hates Amy's theme dinner. Poor Amy.

Big Bang Theory - The Champagne Reflection

Sorry again for the super-late post, I went home this weekend and was constantly busy! (Needless to say, the Thursday-at-8:00 timeslot is not working so well for me!) My SNL post should also be up sometime within the next few days.

Fun with Flags is back!! But it's the last episode so that makes me sad. Apparently he did 232 episodes (more than BBT, I might add). I would totally watch all of those lol.

The other guys are cleaning out the office of a dead professor and it's really depressing. Kinda like the Friends episode 'The One Where Mr. Heckles Dies'.
"Goodbye Mr. Heckles. We'll try to keep it down." Still chokes me up.
Penny's boss is still afraid of Bernadette, and Sheldon is still bitter because Amy didn't record the Fourth of July episode. Surprise Barry Kripke!! And surprise old-timey bathing suits!

Raj loves 'Everything is Awesome' from the Lego movie.
Bernadette thinks she's the sweetest person she knows, and she should be in a tree baking cookies.

Surprise Levar Burton!! And it turns out the 'potentially significant' notebooks that the guys found were the professor's calorie intake journals. Raj is tired of everybody's sarcasm. And Penny sounds like she has a cold, or recently started smoking.

Leonard realizes that all of them may not amount to anything (scientifically) and then Howard announces that he's been to space, so he's good (I saw that coming).

Sheldon starts crying at the end of his show, and the audience goes 'awwwww'.

Bernadette said she was a monster for being so mean to everyone, and her boss said she was a cute one, like 'the eyeball one' (Mike) from Monster's Inc.

I don't see the resemblance.

Then, because of one lukewarm comment on Sheldon's show, he decides to bring it back! Yaaaaay!! And then he goes to harass Levar Burton... Awkward.

The Big Bang Theory - The Septum Deviation

Sheldon has no problem admitting that he loves himself... Poor Amy, she probably got that one on prom night and hasn't heard it since. He thinks Tesla is a 'poor man's Sheldon Cooper'. Haha.

Leonard needs surgery to repair his deviated septum - and Sheldon only complained about Leonard's snoring for 5 or 6 years, that's not too long! He disagrees with Leonard's choice to get the surgery, and doesn't even know who Jay-Z is. (Come on dude, you can do better than that. My grandmother knows who he is!)
She also knew who Alicia Keys and Beyonce were. I was so proud.
Raj's parents are less-than-happily celebrating their 40th anniversary, and Bernadette is annoyed with Howard's insensitivity enough to threaten not to make it to 40 years with him..

Poor Raj! His parents are splitting up and he says he's totally fine with it but HOW CAN HE BE OK, HE COMES FROM A BROKEN HOME! (His words, not mine).

Amy can fit 56 fava beans in her mouth, and she's a terrible liar so she admits she's covering for Leonard in driving Sheldon to work so he can get the surgery. But you see, the concern he feels is not for Leonard, but for himself missing out on the opportunity to say 'I told you so' if something goes wrong.
We all know he loves doing that.

And Sheldon channels his inner Shawn from Psych and tells Penny that 'I assume you've already been treated for the burns on your posterior.'

Bernadette tries to cheer Raj up with a basket of muffins and some muffin-related puns, and manages to make me hungry in the process.

The power in the hospital went out because there was a slight earthquake (what, no backup generator?) and Sheldon freaks out even more, runs into a wall and breaks his nose. That's a pretty funny coincidence, though, I was in a lab yesterday morning and the power went out.. But at least I got to go home early!! (And I didn't run into a wall because we had a backup generator!)
With all these things that could have gone wrong, I'd be worried too.
Howard's only problem with Bernadette is apparently that she's too... beautiful. And hang on, they made such a giant dish of pasta for only the two of them? And they've both already got a heaping plateful, who is all that pasta for?!

Both Sheldon and Leonard have bandaged noses it's so funny. And Leonard and Bernadette are passively-aggressively telling one another the things they 'love' about each other. Apparently Raj and Howard went to couple's therapy.. Awkward.
Twinsies!!!
