Bones - The Money Maker on the Merry-go-Round

Christine just said 'jackass' hahaha which in her little-child voice sounded hilarious... Also, that child is not four. Come on. Apparently it's not her fault, since her bunny is a jackass. I see no flaw in her logic.

Young, blond, doctor (Wells) is back, and makes the mistake of telling Brennan that he wants to eventually be better than her - thinks this is possible because he has a genius IQ of 160.
Dr. Spencer Reid and his 187 ask "Is that all?!" Reid also wins in the 'extremely handsome' department.

Cam and Angela try to reconstruct the victim's face by literally PINNING the skin onto the skull. Pardon me while I gag. Is it just me, or is Aubrey beginning to enunciate exactly like Booth? Methinks they've been spending too much time together... They're interviewing the victim's wife and she admits that her husband took care of everything - and she doesn't know how to change a lightbulb, so Aubrey says 'OK, I can show you how to do that later'. What a gentleman! Then when she leaves, she offers to tip them, because she doesn't know who she's supposed to tip. Wow she really is clueless...
AND I JUST REALIZED SHE'S PLAYED BY THE ACTRESS WHO WAS WENDY THE WAITRESS ON HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. Which means she should know ALL about tipping.
Just Wendy. She doesn't have a last name.

Apparently Booth knows that Aubrey hates 'the 1%' and he knows 'what happened to' Aubrey to make this happen. I hate to sound like Chandler Bing, but could you BE any more vague, Booth?!! Hoping they actually reveal what the thing is, at some point..

Do people who played football in college seriously still wear their team rings when they're grown adults?? (This isn't unrelated - one of the people they interviewed was wearing theirs, and being from Canada, I find the college sports obsession weird).

Patented gases have names that sound like super villains, and Cam accidentally mistook Hodgins for Dr. Wells - cause of the curly hair, and the beard.Which I don't buy, because Wells is a good 5 inches taller than Hodgins.

Aww poor Aubrey.. apparently his dad went bankrupt doing some shady stuff in the stock market, and abandoned him when he was a child. Poor kid. They really are the 'island of broken toys'.. According to Twitter, 'Basically Aubrey's dad is Bernie Madoff'.

Brennan assumes that 'due to his personality', Dr. Wells is probably used to people swearing at him in place of hitting him. BAHAHA she also called him a considerable  pain in her ass. (Maybe she's where Christine gets the swearing?)

Booth and Aubrey go to interview a suspect and find him having a giant party in the middle of the afternoon. I highly doubt that strippers high-five dudes for doing cocaine off their stomachs.
Something tells me... The writer of this episode has seen this movie.
Crap, I was making food and missed the beginning of the next section...  Aubrey and Booth were interviewing the druggy-party guy. And then Angela figured out the murder weapon and Wells can't do anything impressive. There was a hooker (she claims to be a 'sheets salesman') who was there with him and even admits to hitting him with the murder weapon, but not in the head.

The case is starting to sound like a game of Clue. And Hodgins doesn't believe in Wells triumphing over Brennan. He thinks Wells looks like himself 'in the mirror with a hangover'.
^^ Does that mean young Hodgins looked somewhat like this??! (Brian Klugman was on Frasier back in the day)

Aubrey upsets the victim's wife by saying he must have not loved her enough because he was sleeping around and doing drugs, and that had decided the money was more important. (I think Sweets would call that 'transference') and he doesn't want to do any more stuff in the field with Booth, says he's been 'hogging' him lately. Aww. Although I do kind of miss Brennan going out in the field, she and Booth had such an interesting dynamic. Especially during interviews.

Also, Brennan found trace in a wound and handed Wells his ass on a platter. YOU GOT SERVED, DUDE. Nobody challenges Dr. B.

OH SNAP that guy with the football ring was the one who killed him. The football ring was what gave it away! (Attention all sports people - leave those things at home!)

Brennan finds Aubrey at the Founding Fathers (because there's only one FBI bar in all of Washington) and talks to him about his father and how to let go of the past. Which is really sweet of her. And then she convinces him to buy her a beer, cos that's how she rolls.

Booth had to feed Christine cake for dinner - he's just kidding. It was pie. And now Christine is calling everyone 'jackass', including her mother, and her teacher. And Booth goes along with it.

Alright, I'm not on my A-game tonight because I have two midterms and a lab tomorrow (I have my priorities in order, don't I??) but I managed to squeeze in four TV and one movie references, so that's not too shabby. BBT post will likely not be up until the weekend, and I'll have to wait to watch the new Elementary until then, too *sobs*
TWO! That's two movie references!!

NCIS: LA - Leipei

OK so here's a suggestion - if a little airplaney thing is coming straight at your window at a high speed - maybe don't just sit and stare at it an amused/curious manner... Not that all of them are full of explosives, but I'm sure they'd hurt at least a little if they hit you.

Monty has anxiety issues (or he just liked to pee in private, we're not sure) and nobody ever listens to poor Eric. Nell and Eric begin talking in hashtags and Granger gets grumpy about it. Because he's old. Or not tech-savvy. Or he thought they were having fun and wanted them to cut that out. But Nell gets to go into the field! Yaaay!
I just realized - GRANGER IS GRUMPY CAT!!!!

The man who was killed was a known terrorist that was in witness protection, but then managed to escape witness protection, a fact Deeks and Hetty are both incredulous about. (Me too).

The woman who was there and happened to catch the explosion on camera happens to be married... awkward.

Sam is trying to be the best at everything, and Callen is questioning his tactics - like taking a magic class, which Sam passes off as 'Escaping restraints in stressful situations'.

Uh-oh... dead guy.

Callen, aren't you aware that the health-inspector thing never works when trying to investigate a restaurant?? And then he just keeps listing things - rodents in the kitchen area, insects in the refrigerator, etc. And then Sam (posing as a patron) freaks out and starts asking what kinds of rats they were (because that matters).
This totally looks like a man who would be afraid of rats.
OH MY GOD the guy they went to the restaurant to find is played by the dude who was Detective Vartann on CSI for years and years! So strange to see him with a Spanish accent.
Vartann! Would Catherine approve of your criminal activities?! I do not think so!!
Sam chases him down and fights him in a carwash - and I hope the government will pay for the windshield of that poor guy's car they broke. Sam eventually takes him down, but not before a) he gets hit with a can of Turtle Wax and b) Callen detains four people and then catches up.

The bad guy watches TMZ which is why he claims he came to LA, and he knows his rights because he also watches 'the Matlock'

Eric missed Nell 'every single solitary second' that she was gone. Awwwwe! He also said he owns her now, and therefore is lending her out to Callen & Sam - but she apparently didn't get the memo.
I'm sorry Eric, who exactly looks like they're in charge here?

Deeks and Kensi find evidence that someone was building a MUCH larger drone. Which is unfortunate. Because, as Deeks says (in a manner that would make Horatio Caine proud) "The question is... Who was he building it for?"
*Sunglasses* YEEAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!
 *Commercial*
Man, I miss that show...

Callen is having bad luck with his cover stories today - first the skepticism over the health department thing, then when he knocks on a door posing as a painter, the people in the house just run away. Looks like he could take some acting lessons from Eric...

I don't know if shooting at a drone full of explosives would be a really great idea... Although they are in the middle of an open area, I guess it'd minimize the casualties. And I'm sure Horatio would think that's a great idea - he'd make the shot, too.

Apparently the drone is heading for an oil refinery. And Eric states the obvious - if one oil container explodes, they all do - then he uses some history to demonstrate how that could be very bad for the people living in the area.
Basically.
Of course all bad guys drive giant boxy vans - but this one is surprisingly coloured (blue), rather than black or white. Typical smug criminal informs Callen that 'It's too late, the drone is on its way' then tells Callen to burn in hell and tries to shoot him. The tablet that controls the drone is busted, but Nell (ever the expert) walks Callen through how to control it. Eric panics.
And then the drone goes offline, comes back online but tries to hone in on the tablet, so he just CHUCKS it and dives out of the way.

After this experience, Sam is suddenly interested in buying a 'drone of our own'. But Callen hates robots, including Roombas. Which is silly, him being a bachelor and all - are you telling me you'd rather do all your own vacuuming, G?
And it'd be even more fun if he had a cat!

Hetty thinks Nell was very useful in this operation (and I concur) but she is wondering if Nell is still interested in being an undercover agent - Nell is sad because she's not big, or overwhelmingly athletic, or a good sniper (wait, are we talking about Nell or me here??). They drink whiskey and Hetty somehow relates that to her self-doubt. Everyone comes back and is proud of her, and then Eric gives her a little smile (from behind a pillar for some reason) and I melt a wee bit.
Eric's precious smile is precious.
But seriously, I hope this isn't foreshadowing that they're turning Nell into an agent - I couldn't handle her leaving Eric all alone at Ops with Granger! I would miss her 'every single solitary second' - and so would he!!!

[I only managed to make two TV references this week. Weak.]

NCIS: LA - SEAL Hunter

This episode is already looking pretty interesting, because a) someone gets framed and b) Chris O'Donnell directed. Yaaaay! I would also like to applaud them for going 6 episodes in without any reruns. That's longer than pretty much any other show this season... which is kinda disappointing. But anyways...

Sam gets arrested, at gunpoint, by the FBI, on a bridge. For MUUUUURDER. (That was my Shawn-from-Psych voice, there).

Deeks is eating a superfruit that's part aphrodisiac and looks like a giant sea urchin. Then he hits on Kensi, because 'the fruit made me do it' is an awesome excuse... Right?
Who are all these random people who suddenly work in Ops?? Typical of Hetty to be all 'by the book' and then sneak around behind Granger's back.

Kensi made a Ghostbusters reference, and Deeks has the revelation that vegetarians don't tend to eat at delis. I'm still confused about what this case is and who the person is that Sam may have killed.
Callen is also sneaky and hides in the FBI agent's car. I love how, depending on the viewpoint of the show, FBI agents are either arrogant jerks (CSI), heroes (Bones, Criminal Minds) or incompetent morons (Chuck, NCIS).
But one thing's the same:

They. Always. Wear. Suits.

Eric just compared hacking to sex and Nell made a face I've never seen on her before. It was priceless. Hetty also had a comeback to his analogy, but I'm afraid I missed it because I was still laughing at Nell. (But seriously, does anyone know what she said?? Leave the answer in comments & I'll be forever grateful!!)

Apparently you can now compare DNA samples virtually. *Science*

According to Deeks, toupees can be formidable. Also Deeks claims to be an expert on Judaism because of dating Jewish girls? How does that work, exactly? Don't pretend like you actually listened to them, dude.

Callen shows up - disguised as a waiter - at the restaurant where the FBI agents go for lunch. And Sam's apparently 'disappeared' into the federal jail system. Callen's pissed. He took the FBI lady's gun. And he recommends the lobster. But BAM now Granger's there too. WHAAAAT!? How do they do that?

Deeks scales up a house to climb in the window, and Kensi was definitely looking at his butt. Aaaand now he's trapped. Smooth move, Deeks. "If you shoot me in the back, that's murder!'" So... he just keeps his back to the guy. Oh man I love Deeks. Kensi happens to save the day from outside. And toupee man was definitely staring at Deeks, too... But not his ass. His hair.
This is relevant.
Toupee-man, when interviewed, says he doesn't trust SEALs, then after he lists all their sneaky accomplishments in that rhetorical-question manner that is OH SO annoying ('You know who did ____? SEALs') Deeks cuts him off by saying 'otters?' and I want to high-five the TV because dude read my mind. (But I didn't, because that would be weird. Not that that's stopped me before..)
This guy approved of that joke.
Toupee-man also claims to have endured 36 hours of 'self-induced' waterboarding, and Deeks is well aware that he's full of it. Well, come on, Deeks, you are the expert on being full of it.

Surprise, non-surprise, the two FBI people (OK apparently one of them's a lawyer) are sleeping together, and Callen casually finds them, again. I'm cracking up. I think someone on the NCIS: LA writing team has been watching Psych, this is exactly how Shawn operates. Or maybe I've been watching too much Psych. That's also a possibility. (But you can never watch too much Psych.) Granger snaps some photos of them sneaking off together and tells them that it wouldn't bode too well for them if word got out - because he wouldn't be Granger if he wasn't spoiling somebody's fun!

BOOM, Sam is back. And now he's talking to toupee man, who is probably wishing he could pull off the chrome dome like Sam does. Product placement... They have a new Windows phone. It's shiny. My dad is a tech geek and he always pointed it out when Eric had the Surface tablet before they were publicly available. They always manage to get such nicely-framed shots of them, too.
Voila! Side note: check out that adorable selfie.

Totally reminded me of when they did this on Chuck. Who holds a sandwich like that?
Apparently it's not a toupee, his hair is just really thick and - ooh! Explosion! The non-toupee man's boat blew up. But it was pretty far away. (He wasn't on it). Apparently Sam has a 'doppelganger' who must have been the one who actually committed the murder - but that guy barely looks like him. And Granger tells Callen to 'keep an eye on Sam', knowing fully well that SAM DOES WHAT HE WANTS!

Kensi and Deeks go undercover at a self-defense class, they mess up their over story about whether they're cousins or together (they settle on cousins from Kentucky, it's a good overlap) and the lady teaching the class is totally Hotchner's wife from Criminal Minds.

Hey, I've got an idea, let's play the 'how many other TV shows can Emily mention in one post?' game. So far, I'm up to six. And one movie. I feel like this would be a good game for me to play on all my other posts. Must remember that for later.

Every time self-defense lady makes a move on him, Deeks goes "Okay, that's happening" hahaha what a guy. Apparently she remembers him as a detective because she was a working girl and he helped her out. Say it with me now: Awwwe. But then he has to tell her he's investigating her boss, and she's sad. OH CRAP they use her to lure in her boss and then he has a laser beam trained on her. Crapola.

Sam has to play the hero and runs in front of her so that Deeks and Kensi can follow the guy she handed off the bag to - he was obviously wearing a vest, so he's fine - but then he just LEAVES her there and runs off after the sniper who could possibly still shoot at her... Where's the logic in that??

An abandoned theater is a great place for a showdown. What with the dramatic lighting and all. And I'm still bothered by the fact that THIS DUDE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE SAM!!!

Calm Sam is the scariest Sam. The guy (who is not scary, and looks nothing like Sam) starts crying so then Sam and Callen just start laughing, because real SEALs don't cry.
No word on the otters, though.
And toupee-or-not guy took all the credit and then referred to Callen and Sam as his backup. Rude!

Update: that sea-urchin-looking fruit stinks. Hetty's not having any of that in her Ops!
Foolish Callen invites Granger for a drink with them - why would you do that! He will prevent you from having fun!

So, to sum up:
-Excellent banter this episode (although a little lacking on Nell & Eric again, what's up with that?)
-Deeks has a nice butt
-Don't mess with Sam
-Toupees are obvious
-Affairs with coworkers are also obvious *cough* Densi *cough*
-Callen is sneaky
-Otters are adorable
-The writers need to learn what 'doppelganger' means
-I wish Chris O'Donnell could direct every episode

And I managed to make six TV and one movie references. Not sure if that's a good thing...

Bones - The Corpse at the Convention

[Note: As stated last week, Big Bang Theory conflicts with Bones, so I'm going to be watching/blogging about it later.]

Booth doesn't know what Schrodinger's cat is, and for once someone is fawning over Angela and calling her a genius. Go Angela!! That non-scientist mystery writer who Brennan hates is also at this conference (that's a blast from the past!), and then a very rude fire alarm interrupts Brennan's speech. There's a body on fire in a stairwell and she freaks out about the fact that the evidence is burning - rather than being concerned for her own safety. Typical Brennan.

Also, this week - WENDELL'S BAAAAAAAACK!!! Let's take a brief moment for some Wendell appreciation:
I think he approves.

I had to use this one again, it's too priceless. And I realized he looks very concerned. Which is adorable.
AND HE HAS NO CANCER!!!! Because Brennan managed to get him into a clinical drug trial. Awwww... I'm not crying. You're crying.

It's kind of hilarious how many people are trying to push their crime-scene investigation products on the team. Within the space of two minutes, Aubrey mentioned Beyonce and Booth mentioned the Kardashians - we get it, Bones writers, you're young and hip and whatnot. Shockingly, the author-lady is using the dead person to promote herself. (That was sarcasm).

Turns out that the dead girl was actually the entomologist that Hodgins had argued with earlier in the day. And as he so furiously pointed out, that's the third time he's been a murder suspect.. Given his temper, I coulda sworn it was more.

I love how Aubrey is turning into a mini-Booth, they even have a similar kind of voice/accent.

Apparently it's possible to just remove giant sections of concrete stairways when examining the body attached to them. And Cam's signature messy-bun is back! I wish my hair always looked that perfect when I pull it back 'casually'.
Although let's be honest, Cam look flawless approximately 100% of the time.
Even when examining icky gross crime scenes.

Without fail, the sight of Booth eating pie at the diner makes me want pie. Ooh! Band-aid found at the scene has DNA on it that belongs to none other than... Hodgins. Damnit Hodgepodge, stop leaving your DNA on things!! And now Aubrey and Booth have to interview him (not that that's a conflict of interest or anything). He and Aubrey like each other (aww) so Aubrey asks him to please not be the killer. Right, because that's how that works.

Turns out the guy running the convention was having an affair with the dead lady - and before that, he was having an affair with the author lady. Crap, I've lost track of who they interviewed second. They interviewed the dishwasher guy, then Hodgins, then this guy. But I can't remember if there was someone before or after the dishwasher. And now Hodgins, despite being a suspect, is still allowed to work on the case. That's so silly. I guess it's because they don't have any other lab people to do all the science for him.

Damnit, Wendell hasn't returned from his appointment for medication... THIS IS NOT OK! Bones writers, if you kill him too, I SHALL NEVER FORGIVE YOU!!
This is not a good look for him! No more of this!
(Even though it's obviously a bald cap, cos ain't nobody touching MGT's hair!!)

Hodgins and Cam figure out that there was a chemical time-release that set the fire, and therefore caused all the suspects (including him) to lose their alibis. But at least they got to do a little experiment. One with fire this time!

Oh, and apparently all the ten minutes of worrying over Wendell is dismissed with "He called Booth, he's fine." That was semi-pointless. Except now he's at the bar and all sad and pensive because one of the other people in the trial suddenly got worse and died. So now he's worried that his cancer's suddenly going to come back. Which Booth takes as a reason to tell a war story - haven't heard one of those in a while. And he calls Wendell his 'brother' and I teared up a little. I want to hug him. He needs a hug. And so do I.

Turns out the killer was one of those forensic-tool-salespeople. Booth cannot say 'thermocouple' and Bones has to be reminded not to compliment the murderer. Turns out the dead lady was also sleeping with him - and stealing his product design. Just like she did to Hodgins (the plagiarism part, not the sleeping-with part). She wasn't a very nice person.

OK I like the Schrodinger joke - and Booth's moon one - but it didn't really warrant the hysterical round of laughter it got from her audience. It was more of an 'lol' not a 'LMAO'. And come on, all those scientists, and no one thinks the moon one is funny?! Lame.
Schrodinger's cat: inspiring paradoxes since 1935.
OK that's all for this week - but stay tuned, I'll be posting the Big Bang Theory blog sometime soon. Also, Elementary is returning tonight (yay!) and I'm not blogging about it, but I will probably be live-tweeting, so feel free to come find me here: https://twitter.com/emmycsi :)

I'll leave you with just one more adorable Wendell (since we probably won't see him for a while now). I've got a whole arsenal of these.
Look how dapper he is. I bet he'd be fun at parties.

Bones - The Lance in the Heart

Regarding this episode's title:

But there's good news amongst the sadness, mourning Bones fans!
YES THAT IS RYAN CARTWRIGHT (AKA VINCENT)!!!!
New theory: whatever movie JFD is working on is secretly the Bones version of heaven.
I think we can all agree that if the two of them posted a video together singing 'Da lime in da coconut', we could get some closure, hmmm? That is not remotely a sad song, but it still makes me sad.

Where did that MASSIVE quilt on the wall of B & B's house come from? Booth crying is gonna make me cry more - and then they have to teach Christine about death in the worst possible way. Someone pass the Kleenex.

It kind of annoys me that they have to de-flesh every single set of remains, even those who are 'fresh'. That's not always 100% necessary in real life. Just because it's called 'Bones'. Urgh.

I think I know what they're trying to do with this Aubrey guy... They're trying to distract us with someone newer and shinier (and handsomer) and they think that'll make us forget. BUT IT WILL NOT!
Look at those eyes, man....
Side note: apparently the actor who plays him, John Boyd, was in Argo, which I have seen multiple times, but I didn't recognize him. And he's not on Twitter (...yet).

Booth finds the car used to kill Sweets which was stolen (of course) and then they go up onto the roof of a building for some reason, and the guy is up there, dead and covered in rats. He was an FBI agent-turned-Navy SEAL that Aubrey knew. I was kind of hoping Booth would get to take the guy down, but Sweets got him after all. Good.

The documents that Sweets got from executing that warrant were stolen by the killer, but he didn't have them. And Booth is now allowed to stay on the case, because that's not at all a conflict of interest. Caroline thinks the FBI director wants Booth to trust him.

I don't understand how Daisy is still so annoyingly matter-of-fact through all this. And this is the second episode, shouldn't we get a different squint?? Even if it's a two-parter?? I want to see someone other than Clark!!

OK now I'm mad, because it turns out Sweets didn't manage to kill the bad guy. Someone else stabbed him and used the bullet wound to hide it. Goddamn, he can't have anything!! That person probably took the document. Which they can't get another warrant for because of some made-up rule that isn't really a thing.

Daisy and Angela find a bunch of notes in Sweet's pocket about various suspects - and then one that says 'Seeley' a bunch of times. Daisy starts crying (only now??!) and says that that was what Sweets wanted to name the baby. And then I start crying, but obviously the baby's gonna be named Lance now. Although 'Lance Seeley' sounds pretty nice together...

Booth and Brennan have an argument because he has a bunch of guns, and Brennan thinks Booth has become not like himself, and too angry, and she doesn't want to be around him, or have her daughter be around him.
It's the beard! The beard is making him violent!! They must be in the darkest timeline because Sweets is dead!
Then those blue seats make a re-appearance, apparently they're in some back hallway of their house in front of a suitably large window.
Remember this episode? This was a good episode.

OK the next part of the episode is really well-written because I saw it like 50 times in the episode preview and it still made me cry... Daisy asking Brennan for 'one last conversation' and them looking at his old injuries and talking about him as a child, and playing the piano (all I could think of was that goatee from the beginning of Season 6).

Poor Cam! Has to be the grown-up and plan his funeral. I love Cam and she's totally gorgeous, but her hair is in kind of that awkward half-grown-out stage between short and long and it doesn't really look... right.

Aubrey is a history nerd and gets a brain-block and needs to think of something else in order for the word he's looking for to come to him. JUST LIKE ME! But that's pretty annoying when I need to do that.
Handsome agent is handsome. But he's no Sweets!!!
Hodgin's little British car has made a reappearance! And Aubrey asks if he stole it from a British toddler, then later calls it a 'bumper car'. Skeptical Aubrey is starting to sound like Season-2-era skeptical Booth.

GUYS. They've found tapes of JFK talking/flirting with various people. This is so cool (and I'm wondering who they got to do the voiceover).

I'm also really glad they're using Caroline more these days!! She's so sassy and hilarious - and a little flirty with Aubrey haha but who can blame her?

Bones is 'always sure when she speaks' and someone's cells began growing inside of someone else. And I'm still so confused as to what makes all of this a 'conspiracy'. But whatever. They talk to another guy who spouts some patriotic bullshit, which sounds like a confession but is apparently only 'free speech'. Ugh. I hate pretentious people. 'Perhaps you're being unreasonable because you've spent so much time defending your idea of the Constitution.' Screw this guy!

But they found his DNA in the other guy... Booth gives a patriotic lecture and says he's a 'pathetic little man who is gonna die in prison'. And I hate the fact that it's possible to 'blackmail' one's way out of prison. Although I suppose that's how Booth got out, soooo I'm just gonna sit down and shut up.

The bad guy had hidden his files in the J. Edgar Hoover exhibit at the Jeffersonian! Which is kinda silly, it being that close to the team, but oh well!

Now it's funeral time and this is not OK! They had pizza because it was his favourite food and that's even less OK because I eat pizza all the time and now I'm gonna be sad. (But I'm not gonna stop eating pizza). Brennan gave a beautiful speech involving algebra and somehow algebra made me cry. And she admits that she loved Sweets and that's one of the most touching things of all. They cremated him and go to release him, and the Booth interrupts - AND HE SAYS THEY NEED TO SING SWEETS' 'JAM'!!!! SO THEY ALL START SINGING 'DA LIME IN DA COCONUT'!!! And I screamed 'OH MY GOD' and my roommate thought I was insane but it's such a sweet gesture... They need to sing that at my funeral. Because it's a happy song.

Sorry for the lousy quality...

So that's all the feels for this week... Was this a decent episode? Are you guys happy to be getting back to the non-conspiracy regular cases? Did you get some closure? Am I the only one who will be sad every time she hears 'Da Lime in Da Coconut'??

Completely unrelated, but here's a bonus photo of our favourite handsome characters (although two of them are now dead, and one has cancer, so that's really rather depressing). It's kind of old, but I just found it randomly, so I felt it needed to be shared. I don't know what Ryan's doing. But John's eyebrow game is very strong, as is Michael Grant Terry (Wendell)'s *smoulder*. I think I might make this my desktop photo for a while.

Bones - catching up (Eps 20-23)

Hey y'all, I've been super-busy with exams and whatnot, so it's been really hard to catch up on EVERYTHING, so here's what I'm doing - a short recap of every episode I've missed, all in one post. Here goes!!

The Blood from the Stones (episode 20, aired March 25th)
They found a body in a car with a really freakishly decomposed face (I know they're all freakish, but this one is like his skin became plastic and then kind of melted and then hardened again). The guy had a balloon in his stomach but was not what you'd think, it was diamonds rather than drugs.
During this episode there was a special guest I was very happy to see - none other than Dave Thomas (or as I call him, the guy from Bob & Doug McKenzie who is NOT Rick Moranis), playing a documentary filmmaker who is doing a video on the crime-solving team to raise money for the Jeffersonian.

The guy on the right. He's aged a LOT...
Anywho, he doesn't think Brennan comes across well on camera, more kind of condescending, so they bring out Clark, who is apparently more likeable. You know, even though he works in a completely different part of the museum, they find a lot of reasons to drag him out. Good grief he's so boring. I was watching Season 4 recently, and I noticed they haven't had Fisher on in a while. Where is he?? Probably off filming Avatar 2. Ugh I only like 2 of the 5 interns they have on these days!! (Finn and Wendell, I hate Clark and Daisy, and Vasiri has gotten more interesting with the whole Cam thing, but I still find him boring.) AND I REALLY REALLY MISS VINCENT!!!!!
Anyway, turns out the dead guy was an undercover cop, so naturally Booth gets all pissed, and he (the cop) was on the trail of these two high-tech robbers who were stealing from ATMs.
They find the two robbers, who turn out to be college students, one of whom had her foot shot off by the undercover officer (Oh lord, it was gross!!) and shockingly they find her alive at her house - which is rundown, you'd think the money they stole would get them better housing? Anyway - and then after all of that and Booth stopped the DYING girl from going to the hospital in order to press her for information about her partner, and then after all of that, the cop's wife ends up being the one who killed him because she was jealous of his job. Which was disturbing because she was played by the woman who played Miss Tutweiler on Suite Life on Deck (don't judge, I used to watch it with my sisters) and now I will never be able to look at her the same way because she was evil!!
Oh, and then the filmmaker guy meets and falls for CAROLINE of all people haha (much to Cam's discomfort, as she was standing there when they were introduced) which I still found really adorable!! Good for her! She never gets a decent plotline!
So cute!! Old people love!!
Other than the fact that she was married to ERNIE FREAKING HUDSON!!!! Dang she gets awesome dudes. Love it. Sorry for the run-on sentences. Off to the next one.

The Maiden in the Mushrooms (episode 21, aired April 1st)
There's a body of a lady found in a patch of mushrooms. Which I have learned more than I care to about in biology class this past semester (mushrooms, not bodies). She is found to be the producer of a fake Judge Judy-type show (not very original, the title was Judge Trudy) and the people on this show, I feel, belonged more on Maury, but whatever.
Anywho, the suspects range from psycho people who'd been on the show (you gotta watch this episode just for the scene where Booth mimics a lady's crazy emphatic arm movements - it was hilarious!), to the judge's assistant (played by the same girl who was Mindy on Drake & Josh years ago), to the judge herself, and then lands on the baliff who had dated the victim, and then strangled her because she was neglectful and let their shared dog die. Lovely.
The courtroom might be fake, but the nutcases are real.
In an entertaining secondary plot, Bones goes utterly insane when her daughter Christine is accused of biting another kid at daycare, and even enlists the help of the forensics department, and suggests conspiracies and whatnot. She is super-pissed (and somewhat conceited) when people would think her progeny is 'average', even though it's completely normal behavior. I remember my sister doing a number on my cheek when she was 2...
And at the end, it is revealed that Christine bit Bones, so she's kind of going to shut up about that. For now.
The 'squint-plot', as I have come to call them, features my second-favourite living intern Finn, who gets all upset when Hodgins eats the last of his granny's hotsauce, and Hodgins adorably works really hard to replicate it (using the mass-spec, might he get in trouble for that??!) and then they end up selling it to a lady to market and produce, with them getting 80% of the profits, and the name 'Opie & Thurston's Hot Sauce'. Say it with me now - AWWW!!!!

The Party in the Pants (episode 22, aired April 15th)
This episode was hilarious. I just KNOW the writers have been thinking about a way to work male strippers into the show ever since Magic Mike came out, and they finally did it!
So first of all, the kid brother from Freaky Friday, all grown up, was in the opening part, where they found a body at a construction site, and then when they figure out it was a male stripper, Hodgins does a little striptease for Angela in her office - which Cam walks in on and makes her 'this is very awkward' face about, what's even funnier is that when she backed out slowly they didn't even notice! Poor Cam is always the awkward bystander lately!!
At another point in the show, Booth's pants get pulled down by a bunch of excited, drunken sorority girls, when he's trying to interview one of the stripper's coworkers. Awkward! Although Bones was there and found the whole thing hilarious, so he's all good on that front.
Not that I blame them for mistaking him for a stripper at all hahaha...
In addition, the dead stripper had a day job as a stockbroker, and his girlfriend (in case anyone cares) was in Fired Up. He ended up getting killed by that same coworker because he took all his money and lost it in some kind of insider trading where you rip off your clients because you're a jackass.
And Booth's mom showed up, which was absolutely touching, seeing her with Christine and talking about Booth as a kid - until she dropped the bomb on him that she's getting remarried and has been living with her new husband's kids for the past several years, being a mother to them even though she had left her own children. Which was really sad, they have a fight and she leaves. But then Booth, being Booth, and having Brennan to talk to him, decides to do the right thing and shows up at her wedding. What I want to know is - WHERE THE HELL IS JARED?? (Also someone we haven't really seen since Season 4! I miss that handsome devil!) Oh, and at the wedding, Brennan 'accidentally' catches the bouquet, which is some veeerrrryyy interesting foreshadowing, methinks.

The Pathos in the Pathogens (episode 23, aired April 22nd)
'We're talking about bio-terrorism here' which is why the lab is covered in a biohazard box and the CDC is bringing in a body with some sort of toxin in it. It's a woman blogger, and her fiance was really handsome and familiar-looking. So is the guy from the CDC. I swear, sometimes I am a walking IMDb. Also, Vasiri is back.
But there are no airborne pathogens so the tent is safe but it turns out she was writing an expose on people mutating pandemic diseases like Yellow Fever and SARS. The doctor she was interviewing doesn't like Sweets. How rude! And then Vasiri gets cut by a microneedle embedded in the humerus, so he's in danger! Damnit Arastoo, get your shit together!!  Cam is freaking out about saving him and then he gets all macho 'I could be the key, this is what needs to be done' etc. Good grief.
They think it's a mutated strain of some kind of African virus (I can't take the name seriously, it sounds like 'chickpea'), but they have a serum something to do with rabbits that might help Vasiri. This is reminding me so much of that episode of Criminal Minds with the anthrax...
is there any more jello?
Not going to lie, I cared a bit more about them saving my beloved Reid...
And then the rabbit serum doesn't help and makes his heart race out of control.
The victim was sleeping with a man whose racehorse farm she was trying to expose for illegal horse steroids. And she accidentally sent an email intended for him to her boyfriend, giving them both motive.
Hodgins concocts an herbal remedy that he thinks might somehow help Vasiri, and Brennan jumps on board but in the meantime, Cam is crying and the CDC doctor says he has about 4 hours to live and won't give them permission to use the herbal medicine. Cam puts her foot down and they inject him. It turns out that the creepy doctor lady Sweets spoke to earlier had been fired from a different lab for stealing vials of the same virus - but then Hodgins realises the virus was combined with bacteria, one that wouldn't have been at the lab when she worked there. So it was her boss.
Booth arrests the boss and drags him (literally) over to the lab to show him the body of his victim, and to show him what he was doing to Vasiri. Cam pleads with him to give them the anti-serum, because Vasiri is a good man, and she is in love with him. WELL that's news to us!! The bastard still won't tell them where it is, so Bones tells him that she's managed to recreate the virus from the victim, and has a syringe of it - AND THEN SHE STABS HIM IN THE NECK WITH IT!! I was shocked but laughing my head off, I must admit - only on Bones!!
And then they do one of those wrap-up things where everything is going to be fine, Vasiri is getting better, and the CDC doctor and Brennan are still friends after all their disagreements.Oh, and the syringe actually didn't have any virus in it. Bones is so clever.
Vincent picture
Also, they can save Vasiri, but Vincent gets killed??? Not cool guys!!! (No I won't forget that!)
