Raj thinks Leonard 'tricked' Penny into getting engaged - and apparently he's almost done a pullup!
My friend gave me this awesome shirt for my birthday so I'm wearing it in honour of tonight's episode:
I might piss off some Trekkies... But I don't really care :P
Sheldon's hatred of travel destinations appear to all stem from various movies. 'I don't want to go to a lake house, have you seen The Lake House??'
Sure, nothing bad happens to THEM... The bad thing happens to me for having to watch this for 1.5 hours.
The girls are going to Vegas! This ought to be good...
Surprise, surprise, Howard's only ideas for inventions are things you can have sex with. And now they're going to try to create the hover-board from Back to the Future 2.
The girls' trip is disrupted by Penny having to do work stuff.
Sheldon just referred to Leonard as his 'boy' lol I'm not sure what to make of that... And they're all quibbling about the proper tense to refer to things that changed the past after doing something in the future.
Drunk Amy keeps going on and on about how hot Bernadette is, and apparently she also has a divot in her spine! Their hotel room is SO NICE, man this happens every time people from a sitcom go to a hotel.
GHOSTBUSTERS!!!! Bill Murray got wrong the meaning of 'negative reinforcement' in the opening scene (which I surprisingly didn't notice, even though I learned about that in my Psych class).
'You have a gift!!'
This episode seemed really short... Raise your hands if you're still astonished by the fact that Big Bang Theory is on its EIGHTH season. I mean holy crap.
Disclaimer: Former cast members hosting SNL is my favourite SNL-related thing. Ever. So expect a lot of fangirling this post. Sorry in advance. ON WITH THE SHOW!!! Tonight is also the exact 39-year anniversary of the premiere of SNL. Couldn't think of a better way to celebrate!!!
Bobby makes a hilarious Kim-Jong Un, talking about how athletic he is while being extremely short and telling one of his soldiers to punch him. Side note: I never noticed this, but Beck Bennett looks a lot like a young Darryl Hammond. I'm actually very curious as to where Kim-Jong Un actually has been the last few weeks. North Korea is weird.
BILL!!!!!!! He looks so skinny!! Maybe that's just the suit. And he's nervous, awww... Apparently Megan Mullalley is the one who discovered him and told Lorne to hire him - THANK YOU MEGAN!!!! We owe her so many laughs!!! KRISTEN!!!!!!!!!! She wants Bill to sing - and now I kinda do, too. "Don't make me sing!" This is not a Bill monologue! I was looking forward to a Bill monologue and it's all just Kristen singing... Oh well. I'm glad to have them both back. And then he sings and sounds like Harvey Fierstein... Who is now there too! Ohh how I love Bill's facial expressions... I wasn't at all surprised that Kristen showed up, I mean 1) they have that new movie coming out together and 2) she's everybody's favourite and 3) They are so amazing together and obviously besties.
That stache is legendary.
Herb Welch is back!!! Yaaay!! And he's interviewing Pete who's playing a highschooler who's taking a virginity pledge - and Herb thinks Taran is a mannequin. Who did they used to get to do the newsanchor for this sketch? Sudeikis? What the hell has he been up to lately? And how about Will Forte? I love that guy! Where has he been??
This next sketch is too funny - it's a mock-trailer that's a combination of all the young-adult post-apocalyptic franshises (Divergent, the Hunger Games, the Maze Runner, The Giver etc.) Bill is someone like Effie Trinket from the Hunger Games and talking in a high voice that reminds me of the Knights Who Say 'Ni' from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Pete is the main character, the 'chosen one' in this sketch - I'm so glad they're using him so much this week, he almost disappeared the last episode.
Funniest. Movie. Ever.
AND JIM CARREY IS HOSTING ON THE 25TH WHAAAAT!!!! Probably promoting the new Dumb & Dumber movie - which reminds me, I still need to watch the first one...
Kate MacKinnon does an excellent impression of Jane Lynch (although she's not nearly tall enough). Beck sound exactly like, but looks nothing like, Nick Offerman (I mean, they could have at LEAST given him blue contacts! Come on, people!) And more of Kristen!! We've reinforced what Bill said in his monologue - he only does impressions of people over 70. Al Pacino this time - who was apparently the first impression he ever did on the show.
The next fauxmercial is kinda awkward... They're making fun of those commercials where they ask for a really small amount of money to feed some people in a poor country - 'Why 39 cents??' But hey, Leslie Jones is back!
This is kind of sweet, they're showing an old sketch as tribute to Jan Hooks. Do they do this every time an ex-cast member dies? This one is really sad though, because it's her and Phil Hartman, and they're both dead now.
I've never heard of this guy Hozier before - but holy crap, that voice!!
WEEEEKENNNND UUUUPDAAAAATE!!!!! More Pete, this time as 'a hip-hop fan' explaining the new no-guns policy at the BET awards. He's so dry, too... Could give Colin a run for his money. Apparently he's 6 foot 3, 145 pounds and has a problem with wind. And he slouches. He's so cute.
He says he has bad posture because he hates himself... But look at that FACE!!!!
Billy Crystal was just accused of robbing the Yogi Berra museum! Wonder if he's going to take this! I also find it hilarious that Colin laughs at a lot of Michael's jokes, but none of his own.
I mean, he's got enough Yankees memorabilia... Right??
STEFON!!!!!!!!! YESSSS!!!!! (I totally called it, but STILL!!!!) He called Michael and Colin 'Barack and Mitt' hahaha he's cracking up, OF COURSE, I mean can you blame him?? And apparently Seth couldn't come, because he's 'at home, practicing how to sit behind a desk'.
I'd say he does a pretty good job of it.
WHAT THE HELL is that noise he just made?? I have no idea. I can't handle this. The rest of the episode could just be Stefon talking, and I would die happy. I really wish he'd interact with Colin, though - he's sitting beside Michael so they're just going back and forth. Apparently Stefon is pregnant!!! Hahaha COULD YOU IMAGINE how cute their kid would be??!!!
We need to send a huge thank-you to John Mulaney for creating Stefon (and making Bill crack up every time!!)
Now they're doing that sketch that I'd forgotten about, with the puppets where Bill's is a really scary army vet. Now with smoke coming out of the mouth!
(Commercial break) Holy crap I just realized that iPhone commercial with the two guys competing are voiced by JIMMY FALLON AND JUSTIN FREAKING TIMBERLAKE!!!
KYLE!! He hasn't done a weird-skater-guy sketch yet this season now he's hosting an 'inside SoCal' news-type show and I don't understand what's going on, but he's so cute so I don't care. Also, there are a lot of pre-recorded sketches this week. Bill is being one of the other young dudes on the show and I don't buy it... Probably because his character is not over 70.
This Hozier guy has really strong eyebrow game.
The last sketch of the night was Aidy and Pete being adorable children who summon the Cat in the Hat (Bill) to come play with them and he knew their mother... *knew* their mother... But she's now married to Thing 2 who goes by 'Jonathing' now. (Side note, I had a cameo as Thing 2 when I helped backstage at my school's production of Seussical the Musical. True story.)
I wasn't lying.
Bill got so emotional at the goodbye, awww... and holy crap, Hozier is really tall.
My one criticism: THEY DIDN'T DO WHAT'S UP WITH THAT!!!! Although I guess too many of the people they used in that one are now gone. Sad Emily is sad.
But oh well, this was a wonderful episode and bless this show and bless all the people on it. And bless you all for reading, and bless Bill Hader for existing. (It's Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend, so I'm very grateful for things!) Goodnight to you all, and I'll see you on the 25th!
I call bullshit on those two girls who found the body. They should be running and screaming, not just standing there staring...
Bones is channeling Sweets somehow, and spouting psychology, which is a pretty interesting departure from the norm. And damnit Booth, now I want pancakes. I have a serious question - do the two of them actually go to work in the morning? Or do they just sit around waiting for a phone call? It always seems that they get the call during breakfast...
Aubrey showed up at the crime scene and started gagging and it was hilarious. He's not impressed by the little weasels (literally) that were eating the evidence.
What the hell is this?? Another new squintern?!! Oh wait. No. This is the Cuban guy, he was on one episode last season but I forgot. Cam says no crying, that will contaminate the remains. I would have thought that was common practice in the lab, but apparently not!
The body is identified as a radio personality - a really aggressive and obnoxious one, apparently. Sounds like Rush Limbaugh. Aubrey also blames himself for Sweets being dead. Apparently his being there is the reason Sweets was killed. I'd just like to throw this out there:
Aubrey is Egon, Booth is Venkman. But it's okay, I forgive you buddy.
"So clean he's practically Canadian" is apparently a stage of criminal-record-having.
They're two for two in the last episodes with obnoxiously patriotic suspects.. "Haven't you ever heard of the fourth amendment?" "Yeah, it's great for people who have something to hide."
Booth keeps pushing Aubrey away, even though he just wants to help - this seems oddly familiar...
One of their suspects who wrote angry letters to the radio host is making a bomb because he's a crazy Neo-Nazi and I just want to punch him through the TV. But Booth tricks him into making a false confession by saying something that wasn't true, and the guy enthusiastically agreed.
Apparently the victim was really into BDSM and apparently Booth likes it when Bones bites him... Hahaha he says he'd maybe get to 'two shades of grey' but he wouldn't make it as far as 50.
Side note: Excellent Halloween costume
Angela and the Dr. Fuentes are discussing ball gags and it's awkward because she's sorta-flirting with him but then is like 'no wait' and backpedals.
Apparently his dominatrix left him bound up to the chair, but didn't smash in his nose (which is what killed him because he couldn't breathe). Well that's... helpful.
Booth references a Rolling Stones song (which I am now going to have stuck in my head...) and Aubrey grew a backbone during the last commercial break and confronts Booth about how he has trust issues. I'm impressed. Especially since he said that "Sweets trusted me to work with you. So when you're insulting me, you're insulting Sweets." Wow.
They found deer fur on the body, and Bambi is not a murderer, but the bad guy's boss is - he's a deer hunter, and confessed to finding the victim dead, and then trying to dispose of the body. Brennan gets a few zingers in about how he doesn't believe in climate change and how SCIENCE is what got him caught because he was too stupid to properly dispose of evidence.
Thank you Jesse
Booth is getting pissed off because Bones keeps using psychology and she's giving him a history lesson. And she also tells him to trust Aubrey because she "I know a good man when I see one. I picked you, didn't I?" Touche!
Turns out the co-host of the radio show is the one who killed him, because he was actually on the political 'left' and got fed up with the host's opinions. And Aubrey is good at regurgitating scientific words Bones gives him. Awww and then he shows up at their house and gives them a bottle of wine, and Booth admits that he likes Aubrey (but wouldn't to Aubrey's face, of course).
That is such an interesting episode title. Very poetic.
EWWW a little white fluffy dog eating a dead guy's arm. Seems like the opening to CSI.
Apparently Hetty is 'openly hostile' and 'stalling'. I think this dude is misinterpreting what is clearly badassery. She just told her attorney to sit up straight. And I still don't understand why she's on trial or whatever is happening.
Kensi and Deeks are sparring and then she ends up sitting on top of him, cos that's not awkward at all... Poor Eric who walks in on them and Deeks asks him for help.
Eric is the perennially sexiled college roommate. At least they're fully dressed...
Granger demands that Callen and Sam be pulled out of their undercover operation. Sam disagrees. He's undercover as an inmate and Sam's a prison guard. Long-haired Callen makes me happy. Mostly because he looks EXACTLY like one of my all-time-favourite TV characters.
It's Shawn!!! (From Psych!) Now I'm gonna be looking for a pineapple in this episode....
Side note: who the hell are all these random people who walk around in the background at Ops? What exactly do they do? And why do they never need to be asked for help when stuff's happening? This has been your easily-distracted-Emily question of the week.
Hetty is still killing it with the snarky responses she's giving to these hearing people - apparently the hearing is about why Kensi was chosen to be sent to Afghanistan instead of someone else who was more readily available/was a SEAL or a Marine or something.
Callen's hair is suddenly a little bit shorter in the next scene.. Am I the only one thinking that they shot this while Chris O'Donnell's hair was longer over hiatus?? It makes him look younger. I like it. Sam was encouraging him to adopt a dog, then Callen said Sam was his dog and Sam drove off without him. In related news, I'm reminded why I love this show so much.
Deeks is also a fan of the hair - I'm not surprised. And then some other stuff happened. Nell and Eric used that handy thing they have where there are surveillance cameras randomly in every corner of the city. Turns out that the guy who found the body at the beginning of the episode (because he'd broken in to rob the house) called 911 anonymously. But we already knew he was a criminal.
Hetty is suspicious of everyone and everything, and I am tired of conspiracy theories. Also, she doesn't hide, she protects. Someone is a bastard, and I kind of half stopped listening because Granger said something about 'executive orders'. Blah. Get back to the interesting people!
Deeks managed to compare a suspect they're chasing to playing Whack-a-Mole, and then that same guy pulls a reverse-House and drives a van through a wall (but going OUT of a building) and he hits a fire hydrant. Tsk tsk. As Callen says, 'Doesn't he know we're in a drought?'
Oh House. Yeah, he was crazy, but he was also crazy awesome.
Back at Ops, poor Nell is being harassed by an angry official-looking lady who wants to talk to Sam, Callen, and Kensi, but they're not here right now. So Nell volunteers to be interviewed because she likes being interviewed, but official-lady is having none of that. Granger tells her that Hetty said to say that it's an old building, whatever that means - apparently it means to turn off the power.
ERIC'S MIDDLE NAME IS BARTHOLOMEW!!!! Awwwww... And he's such a good staller/bluffer and looks so flustered talking to the official-people about the power going out. What a cutie.
'The name's Beale. Eric Beale. Eric Bartholomew Beale. ...The third ...Esquire.'
Most dramas don't have callback jokes, but Deeks and Kensi are still using 'touche' and I love that. Also, you apparently 'can't wash out ghost'. Good to know. They take a picture of the dead guy to pretend he's still alive to try and lure the hitman who killed him back to the scene of the crime to finish the job. The only protection they give Eric is a pillow - not even a gun (although that's for Sam and Callen's protection). He's not allowed the leave the room, even if he has to pee. Or there's a fire (which Sam suggests he put out using... you know. Reminds me of the movie Strange Brew. But they didn't give him any beer!
Bob and Doug would be proud.
According to Callen, people who say 'I don't know what you're talking about' know exactly what you're talking about, they just don't want to admit it. Sooo... What do people say when they don't know what you're talking about?
Say 'Papalegba' one more time, I dare you. (No, I have no clue how that's spelt. It just sounds so stupid.)
OH MY GOD Homeless Deeks is baaack!!! Love that guy!!! And I'm so glad they let him keep his hair long - because that look wouldn't work with Callen or Sam's normal 'dos. This is a new one, Sam and Kensi playing an arguing couple. I love that they apparently don't need disguises. And I'm gonna be mad if they shot up the plastic recycling bins - that stuff takes forever to sort! And now there's metal in it??
Even after they knew the real name of the man running the online hit-for-hire site, they still kept calling him by that stupid-sounding screen name. SHIIIITT SOMEONE HAS PUT A HIT OUT ON HETTY!! NOT COOL!! NOT COOL!! EVEN LESS COOL BECAUSE IT'S A CLIFFHANGER!! GODDAMNIT!!
This picture is NOT from tonight's episode. But those are my three least-favourite words when it comes to TV.
Sheldon's pointed out the fact that I already knew - when someone starts a romantic relationship, they tend to lose one or two close friends, so the guys want to know which of them Raj is going to drop. For some reason, it would appear that I'm always that 'one friend' among my friends...
Stuart is still living with Howard's mom, and she got him cable. With seven HBOs. SEVEN!
Thank you Monica, for the visual representation.
Poor Amy has actually had people say they don't like her to her face. Penny has not. What else is new. This was brought up because Penny thinks Raj's girlfriend Emily doesn't like her.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: POOR AMY!!
Because Sheldon is too picky about the new comic book store, Leonard just described Sheldon as 'an eighty-year-old man in a twelve-year-old's T-shirt' and I stared at him for a moment because I couldn't believe how accurate that is. The boys are going to give Stuart some money so he can reopen his store and not live with Mrs. Walowitz.
Howard's mom has also bought Stuart four-ply toilet paper. FOUR PLY!
FOUR!!!!
Turns out the intense dislike of Penny is due to the fact that Raj told Emily he and Penny hooked up. Stupid man, you don't say things like that to your girlfriend!!! (Although in his defense, apparently he tells everyone). This is like Ross and Emily and Rachel all over again!! Why are the jealous girls in these stories always named Emily?!! (Although in that case, after the wedding, she did have a point...) But I digress.
The comic book store means so much to Howard that he made up a story about his father to appeal to Bernadette. But all the ladies think it's a terrible idea (except for Amy, who only goes with it under the threat that it'll break up their relationship)
Eventually Penny and Emily settle things between them, and then they both turn against Raj because he gets all cocky about being able to 'bed them both'.
Turns out the whole comic-book store thing is a moot point because Howard's mom already gave Stuart the money. And called him her 'bubulah' which pisses Howard off even more, because he's her bubulah and she can't have two. 'YOU ONLY GET ONE!!! ONE!!!!!'
This many!!!
Shocking, Emily and Penny still actually hate each other. Good grief. I would really like for the SNL sketch 'Supporting Women' to be accurate right now!! Why do all the pretty girls always have to hate each other?
"You shot me, but it was an accident. And I forgive you."
I'll be the first one to admit, I don't really... *get* Sarah Silverman. I mean I don't have much of an opinion on her either way. Apparently she hasn't been on SNL since she was a featured player/writer 20-some odd years ago, so it's kind of a big deal that she's back.
I think it's a little too soon to be making jokes about ISIS... They're fucking horrible. And disgusting how they use social media to recruit/brainwash young people, which is what this sketch is making fun of. (Not going to get political here). Although I love Jay Pharoah's impression of Obama. And ZING now they make fun of that guy who managed to run all the way across the White House lawn and through the freaking front door. Did you hear about that? It was ridiculous.
Darrell's voice sounded louder and more announcer-y this time through the opening credits. Good for him, clearly he's been practicing!
Sarah says people consider her a 'blue' comedian which is maybe why I've never really been that fond of her? She has kind of a dude's sense of humour. But even if she's not that good, Maroon 5 is on the show tonight, so that's bound to keep me happy!
This is apparently one of her jokes... Ummmm... yeah...
And now Sarah is sitting on the laps of random audience members and getting them to compliment her after she compliments them. Which is awkward for the people in the audience, but actually kinda cute. And I like that they're actually involving the audience, rather than just cast members dressed as random people. OK this poor woman... She's been sitting on her for like 4 minutes... And I think she's now threatening to hold the stage hostage. HAHAHA they cut in footage of her from the 90s talking to the host as that aforementioned audience-plant, this is actually kind of clever. (Also the questions have absolutely nothing to do with her, or anything she's an expert in, such as dinosaurs)
Side note: how old is she??? Apparently 44. Which is insane. She looks like, 25. What the hell.
They're making fun of The Fault in Our Stars... But the girl (Sarah) has ebola and Taran meets her and is like 'ummmm no thanks bye'. And the World Health Organization rated it 'plausible'. Does SNL suddenly have rights to a bunch of popular songs? Because I never noticed them using actual songs in their faux-mercials before.
The Fault in Our Stars 2: The Ebola in Our Everything
Sarah does a decent Joan Rivers impression... this sketch is about her getting into heaven and meeting a bunch of famous people and making fun of them. Although I must point out that if it's OK for them to do impressions of dead people now, I'm very disappointed Maya Rudolph hasn't done another Whitney Houston impression since she died - that was one of my favourites!! OH MY GOD Kyle Mooney looked so exactly like Steve Jobs it took me a minute to figure out who it was playing him. For about 2 seconds I thought it was actually Steve Jobs sitting there. AND ADAM LEVINE!! Looks nothing like Freddie Mercury, but totally sounds like him.
LOOK AT KYLE!!! Also props to Kate for making an adorable Lucille Ball.
The next bit was (surprise, surprise) set to another song - 'Hey Soul Sister' by Train - and advertising... white people? Oh hey, a cameo by former featured player/staff writer Mike O'Brien! At least he still has a job...
Once again, Keenan's character that I have no idea how to spell (Reese Dewatt? Rhys Dewet?) hosting a TV show talking about old TV shows - this one is called 'Supportive Women' and is a soap opera where all the women are nice to one another instead of being backstabbing and evil. For example, Cecily put a powder in Sarah's drink behind her back, which turns out to be an antihistamine, because 'I noticed you were getting hoarse earlier' hahaha. And later Taran says he wants to kiss Sarah and she rejects him because he's married to her best friend Aidy - who then bursts in on them and says 'I believe you' and they just smile at each other. If they made this as a spoof-soap show, I'd totally watch it.
Full confession: As much as I like them, I've never actually gotten around to listening to Maroon 5's newest song... I asked for the album for my birthday, I swear!! But hearing it for the first time live is kinda interesting. Adam doesn't usually rock back and forth that much when he's singing, does he?
Creepy Freddy approves.
I think they took all the orange from the old Weekend Update background and put it in the new opening sequence.
Colin is adorable. This is not news. I love how dry he is (also not news). But his bantering with guests has improved enormously. Oh good, they're making more fun of that White House intruder!! The Reverend Al Sharpton thinks you can get e-bola through your e-mail. And that Colin's name is Kevin. I have to say, I like the difference of Colin's offhandedness compared with how Michael always seems really amused by his jokes.
Dare I say it, the only comedian more deadpan than Colin Jost is Demetri Martin *gasps*
The rules of words people cannot say are as follows: Michael cannot say 'toodleoo' because it sounds funny and Colin can't say 'bae' because he's 30. And I also advise against saying that because this:
Seriously though, is adding the one letter to make it 'babe' really too much effort???!! It doesn't even add a syllable!!
I don't really get this next thing.. Sasheer and Sarah and Cecily are a singing group on a riverboat, and in between verses they just talk about their really depressing lives... And I can't tell if their wigs are actually purple on top, or if that's just the lights. Update: that is totally just the lights.
Taran picks up his 'sister' Sarah at the airport and she tells him she cheated on her boyfriend Jeff (Bobby) and right after that he pops up in the backseat... with an engagement ring. And the look on his face is priceless! They get stuck in traffic (which was such a cheap trick, they just froze the green-screened traffic footage behind the car). 'Unfaithful' is on the radio, naturally. BUT SERIOUSLY SNL, YOU ARE RUBBING THE SONG RIGHTS IN OUR FACES. And then her parents also pop up in the back seat. And so does Adam Levine - playing himself hahaha. But going to Pizza Hut solves everything! Yaaay!
Also, I cannot un-hear 'There wiiiiiiill... bestuffedcrust'
Infauxmercial for a stupidly expensive blender where Vanessa keeps hiding the price from Sarah while she brags about all the things the blender can do 'It makes nut butters!'
This episode was so much better than last week's. Not that I don't love Chris Pratt, because I do, but the material this week was just great! (and I swear, the presence of Adam Levine only had anything to do with about 30% of it). Someone just pointed out there was no Pete in this episode and oh my god they're right! How did that happen?? They didn't fire him already, he was in the opening credits... Sometimes when cast members have been on for a long time, they kinda disappear random weeks, but that's usually because they're working on side projects... This is odd. Hope he's OK. I didn't see him during the goodbyes either, but hold on, just saw Colin in a T-shirt *fans self* my, what nice arms he has!!
Tune in next week for BILL FREAKING HADER!!!! THERE ARE LITERALLY NO WORDS FOR HOW EXCITED I AM!! SO PLEASE ACCEPT THIS LARGE QUANTITY OF EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although I might be a little late with my blog post next week because I'm Canadian and it's Thanksgiving so I'm going home and will be very busy. I hope I don't miss it.
But there's good news amongst the sadness, mourning Bones fans!
YES THAT IS RYAN CARTWRIGHT (AKA VINCENT)!!!! New theory: whatever movie JFD is working on is secretly the Bones version of heaven.
I think we can all agree that if the two of them posted a video together singing 'Da lime in da coconut', we could get some closure, hmmm? That is not remotely a sad song, but it still makes me sad.
Where did that MASSIVE quilt on the wall of B & B's house come from? Booth crying is gonna make me cry more - and then they have to teach Christine about death in the worst possible way. Someone pass the Kleenex.
It kind of annoys me that they have to de-flesh every single set of remains, even those who are 'fresh'. That's not always 100% necessary in real life. Just because it's called 'Bones'. Urgh.
I think I know what they're trying to do with this Aubrey guy... They're trying to distract us with someone newer and shinier (and handsomer) and they think that'll make us forget. BUT IT WILL NOT!
Look at those eyes, man....
Side note: apparently the actor who plays him, John Boyd, was in Argo, which I have seen multiple times, but I didn't recognize him. And he's not on Twitter (...yet).
Booth finds the car used to kill Sweets which was stolen (of course) and then they go up onto the roof of a building for some reason, and the guy is up there, dead and covered in rats. He was an FBI agent-turned-Navy SEAL that Aubrey knew. I was kind of hoping Booth would get to take the guy down, but Sweets got him after all. Good.
The documents that Sweets got from executing that warrant were stolen by the killer, but he didn't have them. And Booth is now allowed to stay on the case, because that's not at all a conflict of interest. Caroline thinks the FBI director wants Booth to trust him.
I don't understand how Daisy is still so annoyingly matter-of-fact through all this. And this is the second episode, shouldn't we get a different squint?? Even if it's a two-parter?? I want to see someone other than Clark!!
OK now I'm mad, because it turns out Sweets didn't manage to kill the bad guy. Someone else stabbed him and used the bullet wound to hide it. Goddamn, he can't have anything!! That person probably took the document. Which they can't get another warrant for because of some made-up rule that isn't really a thing.
Daisy and Angela find a bunch of notes in Sweet's pocket about various suspects - and then one that says 'Seeley' a bunch of times. Daisy starts crying (only now??!) and says that that was what Sweets wanted to name the baby. And then I start crying, but obviously the baby's gonna be named Lance now. Although 'Lance Seeley' sounds pretty nice together...
Booth and Brennan have an argument because he has a bunch of guns, and Brennan thinks Booth has become not like himself, and too angry, and she doesn't want to be around him, or have her daughter be around him.
It's the beard! The beard is making him violent!! They must be in the darkest timeline because Sweets is dead!
Then those blue seats make a re-appearance, apparently they're in some back hallway of their house in front of a suitably large window.
Remember this episode? This was a good episode.
OK the next part of the episode is really well-written because I saw it like 50 times in the episode preview and it still made me cry... Daisy asking Brennan for 'one last conversation' and them looking at his old injuries and talking about him as a child, and playing the piano (all I could think of was that goatee from the beginning of Season 6).
Poor Cam! Has to be the grown-up and plan his funeral. I love Cam and she's totally gorgeous, but her hair is in kind of that awkward half-grown-out stage between short and long and it doesn't really look... right.
Aubrey is a history nerd and gets a brain-block and needs to think of something else in order for the word he's looking for to come to him. JUST LIKE ME! But that's pretty annoying when I need to do that.
Handsome agent is handsome. But he's no Sweets!!!
Hodgin's little British car has made a reappearance! And Aubrey asks if he stole it from a British toddler, then later calls it a 'bumper car'. Skeptical Aubrey is starting to sound like Season-2-era skeptical Booth.
GUYS. They've found tapes of JFK talking/flirting with various people. This is so cool (and I'm wondering who they got to do the voiceover).
I'm also really glad they're using Caroline more these days!! She's so sassy and hilarious - and a little flirty with Aubrey haha but who can blame her?
Bones is 'always sure when she speaks' and someone's cells began growing inside of someone else. And I'm still so confused as to what makes all of this a 'conspiracy'. But whatever. They talk to another guy who spouts some patriotic bullshit, which sounds like a confession but is apparently only 'free speech'. Ugh. I hate pretentious people. 'Perhaps you're being unreasonable because you've spent so much time defending your idea of the Constitution.' Screw this guy!
But they found his DNA in the other guy... Booth gives a patriotic lecture and says he's a 'pathetic little man who is gonna die in prison'. And I hate the fact that it's possible to 'blackmail' one's way out of prison. Although I suppose that's how Booth got out, soooo I'm just gonna sit down and shut up.
The bad guy had hidden his files in the J. Edgar Hoover exhibit at the Jeffersonian! Which is kinda silly, it being that close to the team, but oh well!
Now it's funeral time and this is not OK! They had pizza because it was his favourite food and that's even less OK because I eat pizza all the time and now I'm gonna be sad. (But I'm not gonna stop eating pizza). Brennan gave a beautiful speech involving algebra and somehow algebra made me cry. And she admits that she loved Sweets and that's one of the most touching things of all. They cremated him and go to release him, and the Booth interrupts - AND HE SAYS THEY NEED TO SING SWEETS' 'JAM'!!!! SO THEY ALL START SINGING 'DA LIME IN DA COCONUT'!!! And I screamed 'OH MY GOD' and my roommate thought I was insane but it's such a sweet gesture... They need to sing that at my funeral. Because it's a happy song.
Sorry for the lousy quality...
So that's all the feels for this week... Was this a decent episode? Are you guys happy to be getting back to the non-conspiracy regular cases? Did you get some closure? Am I the only one who will be sad every time she hears 'Da Lime in Da Coconut'??
Completely unrelated, but here's a bonus photo of our favourite handsome characters (although two of them are now dead, and one has cancer, so that's really rather depressing). It's kind of old, but I just found it randomly, so I felt it needed to be shared. I don't know what Ryan's doing. But John's eyebrow game is very strong, as is Michael Grant Terry (Wendell)'s *smoulder*. I think I might make this my desktop photo for a while.
